I would be interested as would many others if you could prove the gains, have a reasonable price, not screw up the idle, and have no hesitation anywhere in the powerband. Having another org member being a guinea pig would help alot. I would assume that you would modify the existing throttle body so lead/down time is also important.

Others have ventured down this road before and have nothing to show for it. I wish you the best of luck!

Not to kill your sales

People... Were maxima drivers...

We have the VQ motors....it would be pointless to get a bigger throttle body, or motors are fully tuned basically to there Max, but if you all want a bigger throttle body, then get one off a Nissan 240, or a Sentra, there much bigger then the maxima, and 300zx throttle bodies, and they bolt right on

Does anyone think this will show any increase in performance much less horsepower?

Hm....i'd like to see if this method (swapping) will show any difference in HP/performance, cuz everytime i think about it, i just want to run out to the junk yard and test it, but dont wanna waste time-money and effort for something im not sure about...

- The VQ is not tuned to its maximum potential!?!? The Japanese Market has a 250hp version of the 3.0L, for crying out loud. What are you smoking!? Did you not hear about the 5th gen 3.0L and its 232hp or something? The ALMS LMP cars that are Nissan powered use a naturally aspirated VQ and God knows how much power those things are putting out (granted, those probably aren't too streetable).

- The fact that the 4th gen 3.0L's die off so suddenly at about 5300 indicates that the engine is having difficulty breathing... more so on the intake side. We need a better intake manifold and plenum and better cams. Don't know if a TB is really going to make that much difference until you can clear out the rest of the intake tract.

A better intake manifold is available for the 4th gen VQ, albeit in limited quantities. The variable intake manifold raises hp peak to 6100 rpm and holds the power until redline. I picked up 37hp at redline over my baseline and when I switched from a CAI to hybrid my peak hp increased by 7hp and an additional 6 hp at redline.

I toyed around with the idea of a Q45 TB when talking with some of the Z32 guys. I just don't know if it's a direct replacement or not.

No one is making them, but some people are importing them. Check out the group buy section, or search for MEVI...

Don bored out his intake manifold to see if he would get any large gains. He ended up getting 1 HP. I never saw him post anything about boring out his throttlebody.
