is that the point of a window switch, so it dosent spray when you shift right?

Trans cooler is cheap, dont run without it. VB Mod, personally I wouldn't have one but then I wouldn't have a window switch either.

Is it necessary?

Is the window switch necessary when using nitrous? I am using a nx kit but a friend has a zex kit. He says that I need to use a window switch. He purchased some computer controlled distribution option with his zex kit. I thought that a window switch is only neede if you have an autotragic. I rather spend money on a bottle opener.

Yes you can use one. MSD will program it for our car for 40 bucks or something. I bought mine used from an org member. I have it set to engage at 3400 and disengage at 6000. I run the zex kit as well.

I never sprayed through gears - in between ****s that is.

You can use the MSD window switch but you will have to have it modified for 1 cylinder application.

interesting. why is that, because of the ignition system?? what can this cause if not re-propgrammed for "1 cylinder"?

Yes, it's because of the ignition system. The MSD switch was originally designed to be used on vehicles with a distributor, that we don't have, so it must be modified to read off just one cylinder.

The purpose of the window switch is really NOT saving your tranny. If you only want to spray while the tranny is not shifting, then you are only spraying from 4200RPM to 6200RPM. You won't get as much performace as you can. I like to spray my nitrous from 3200RPM in 1st gear and leave it on through out the rest of the gears. The purpose of window switch is so that you don't spray nitrous below 2500RPM and not above 65000rpm. Above 6500rpm, you will hit a fuel cut. That's really bad if you are running a dry kit and hitting the fuel cut. NOS recommend you don't use nitrous below 2500RPM because you are probably not at WOT at that point.

Go to their website and the address should be under their Tech support section. Put the switch inside the box and put a note says "Modify it for 1 cylinder application for 19XX Nissan Maxima with distributorless ignition system". I think it's like $40 to do so. I don't remember how I paid for it. I think I just included a personal check.

There is no distributor and the maxima uses individual coil packs.

It costed $30 for the mod I think. It has been so long.

You need to send the MSD switch to MSD. hehe.
