Nitrous Newbie

I want to start off by thanking any of you who are taking the time to read and hopefully post some thoughts regarding this thread.

I am VERY interested in getting a Nitrous kit. I have been doing quite a bit of research. My vehicle is a 2000 GLE, Auto. I was leaning towards a Zex dry kit. Probably a 50 shot, nothing too dramatic.

My questions...

1. The installation I hear is pretty easy, around a few hours. Do I have to drill a hole in my intake for the nozzle? I am assuming so. This would be a factor if/when I remove the kit.

2. Does the timing on my car have to be retarded (no pun intended)? I have heard that with a dry kit the timing should be retarded a bit.

3. Is a 50-shot lible to hurt my auto tranny which has not seen a VB mod or any upgrades? Currently it is slipping via the TSB, but I plan on having that fixed very soon.

4. What are the items I should have to make a full kit complete. I know I will be wanting a remote bottle opener, bottle warming blanket, arming switch. As far as gauges and regulators, what should I be looking for? Is a fuel pressure gauge necessary or recommended? How about an A/F gauge? Is something like the Apexi S-AFC gauge?

5. What is the approximation on the amount tuning needed with a setup like this? Can it be taken care of in one day considering I have all the necessary equipment.

Thank you for the help. I appreciate it. I hope to soon be a part of the regular Nitrous crowd. I'm crossing my fingers...

Ryan

YES

2. Does the timing on my car have to be retarded ?Not for the 55 shot Zex

3. Is a 50-shot lible to hurt my auto tranny which has not seen a VB mod or any upgrades? Get it fixed first and it should be fine, consider upgrading to VB if using slicks.

This will depend on your choice of kit, and you can refer to the searched thread for more opinions on these items.

5. What is the approximation on the amount tuning needed with a setup like this? Can it be taken care of in one day considering I have all the necessary equipment. Most kits can be installed in a single day unless DP or custom hoses are desired.
