First time spraying!!!

First some specs:
NOS #5124 kit (jetted for 50 shot)
NGK Copper 1-Step Colder Plugs (gapped to .037)
NOS Bottle heater
NOS Purge
Autometer Nitrous Pressure Gauge

1. Regular driving with 1-Step Colder Plugs: Didn't really notice and big change, car just didn't seem to pull as much at the top end. I did however have to replace my JWT ECU with a stock ECU so I'm most likely feeling that.

2. Nitrous runs: After reading many posts about people not getting the nitrous to work the first go-round, I was crossing my fingers that mine would work on first try and it did. First off, it was about 20 degrees in Northern Maryland so it took a while to get the bottle pressure up. My first run was at 700 psi but the rest of the runs were right about 850 psi. On my first spray I took off slow and engaged 2nd gear and then floored it. WOW! You can DEFINITELY feel 50 shot. It doesnt snap your neck back but it kind of pushes you back in your seat. This was with two people (including me)in the car, and later I felt the same way with 3 people (including me) in the car. The second run I tried to spray for a long period of time and just like the first run, I slowly engaged 2nd, floored it, then sprayed from about 3100 to 6000. The pull is great, it felt like a different car. Third run I **tried** to spray in 1st around 3200 but that wasnt working, my tires broke loose and I was spinning like crazy so I stopped. This is most likely due to the fact my tires were just hard as rocks because of the weather. The final run I started slow until 2nd, floored it, sprayed from 3100 to 6100, car shifted into 3rd and then I sprayed from about 3600 to 5900. I stopped and I was around 110.

3. Plugs: After one or two more runs, we came back and pulled the front three plugs. No metallic specs of any kind on the ceramic coating, the ground strap had white on it. I thought I was looking for blue? Anyway, the white stopped at the threads. I'll post pics later.

4. Thanks: I want to thank first and foremost Paul (Requin6) and Steve (Toolrocks) for helping me out so much. If not for Paul's heated garage and Steve's mad scientist-like wiring ability, who knows when this project would have been finished. I also want to thank Frank (jdmmax) for selling me his kit and answering my thousands of emails always with a smile on his face (or at least it seemed). In addition, I also would like to thank Jim (Jime), Ethan (Hokiemax), Tony (1MAX2NV) for all of the email support.

So that's my first time spraying. It's addicting but I told myself I have to seriously watch it until my fuel pressure gauge comes in.

Congrats! Make sure you check that back right (#5) spark plug as well, number 5 & 6 tend to run the leanest. Good luck and enjoy!

Thanks. Should I be concerned with the ground strap being a frosted white? Or does that white progressively turn into blue. The electrode was perfect. The plugs were in the car for about 45 minutes tops before they were pulled.

Glad to hear you're having fun with the nitrous! Get your bottle pressure up to around 950-1000psi and you'll have even more fun!

On your next runs, try finding a big hill and spray going up. The torque will just pull the car non-stop up the hill.

congrats andrew! even with the 50 shot you can feel it sinking you into the seat. it was a pleasure working on your car, and if you need anything else let me know. of course i am always here for some test runs on the "test track" i had confidence that we would get it to run on the first try, we took our time and kept a clear head about it. SHOWTIME! once again congrats!

btw - where are the pics of our install?

Ha, the "test track," that absolutely was not shady at all right? .

Steve is going to send me his pics and then I still need to take a few then I'll post. I still need to attach the remote opener and I might need to move a bracket or two so that the trunk will clear the bottle when it closes. And I also need to get the nitrous pressure gauge off the floor .

Well actually, it's mounted in a HKS DIN panel...on the floor. When we were doing test runs, Requin6 had the flash light on the gauge and was giving me readings .

Didnt see this thread until now. The Nitrous section has been quite active while I was forgetting to check it !
I got my NOS to work on the very first try too. But I knew it would work since I could hear the noids clicking and I knew the NOS was at least getting fed to the first solenoid becuase I had a leak there when I first turned the bottle open. I didn't know nos gas comes out with such vengeance ! I did my 1st run on dulles toll road around 1 am. I will never forget that night.

OK back to the topic. Andrew, did you get your FP installed yet? Did you really install that sucker at the dyno shop with steve?? I was gonna hang around more, but I went to get some coffee and decided to just come home because I was so sleepy.

Yeah I got the fp gauge in, there are some pics of it on the "nitrous setup pictures" thread. The install was pretty straight forward but it helped a great deal to have Steve's wiring skills. The only complication I ran into was that my battery died from keeping my doors open and letting Louie use my bottle heater. But Paul, (Requin6) gave me a jump and I was off!
