Walbro fuel pump installation

I just got a walbro 190/lph fuel pump (GSS 250) installed and I have a few things that I would like to run by everybody:
First - the pump is way too long (about a quarter of an inch longer than stock (even trimmed). I've trimmed the tabs on the top of the pump till it was flush with the top and the fuel pump bracket still didn't fit on. At that point I took out the upper fuel pump seal (the rubber one that goes over the pump outlet on top) and trimmed "the ledge" off of it and that gave enough clearance on the bottom for the bracket to snap in place, the only problem is that I was unable to fit the lower fuel pump support rubber between the pump and the bracket... didn't seem too important at the time so it found a new home in my parts bin. After that everything fit together fairly well.

Now that the pump is working my only complaint so far is how incredibly noisy the pump is, especially from outside of the car... It is almost as loud as my intake noise at idle, but from what I've heard that's typical of walbro pumps and I'm not too worried about it.

Overall the installation was significantly more involved that people around here made me believe but still not all that bad. And those "quick" disconnects inside the pump where an amazing pain in the ***.

Must be a 5th gen thing then. The pump R&R took me 45 mins with the help of a friend, and the Walbro fits like a stock replacement in the 4th gen. The pump is kinda noisy, but I can live with it; something usually has to give.

On the 4th gen..it's plug and play. Mine is super loud too. It almost sounds like an exhaust leak.

lol funny you say that. I've had my pump in 2 weeks, and the other day I heard the hissing for the first time so I started checking for an exhaust leak. After isolating the sound to the rear (where there are no gaskets/connectors) I figured out it's the Walbro

I have the EXACT same problem and also posted the same thing you did a while back in this forum. I had to do the EXACT same thing you did. My car is really noisy also.

I don't have a fuel pressure guage, so I really can't tell you. Sorry, but if you find out, I'd like to know too

My fuel pressure at idle went up. However what I am worried now is that when I go wot my pressure reads high 44.x then slowly goes down to 43.x. Is this normal?

Hm.. I don't know. How much did the fuel pressure go up by at idle? I'm thinking of getting a FPR also to control the FP but I'm not sure if it's really necessary.

FPR shouldn't be necessary unless your running insanely rich or lean.

That is normal with the Vq engines in hot weather. The owners manual even states to depress the throttle when re-starting within 30 minutes if difficult to start in hot weather it's not your walbro. If you want to get rid of this problem for ever install a manual switch to control you radiator fans on low speed or high up to you, and run them full time in hot weather. I never have a problem with starting when the fans are on. It will keep your coolant temp down to 190F instead of 210F or better.
