Bottle pressure, whats the limit?
Bottle pressure, whats the limit?
I am curious about how much pressure is too much. I see most people say between 900 to 1000psi is good. But what is the maximum pressure that it is still safe to spray?
It is really hot here this summer. I have just resently installed my pressure gauge inside the car so I can check it out while I'm driving. I looked at it today and it showed 1250psi! Usually its about 1000-1100.
I haven't even tried it at this kind of pressure and have not intended to. I don't need to go do something stupid and burn up my motor.
I do however have a walbro fuel pump, 255lph, so would that be able to supply enough fuel to keep the a/f ratio safe?
Thanks in advance for any info.

dont use is a 1250 psi, your fuel pump will probably make up for it, but the big nitrous shot will most likely take the tuning out of whack. Either use a bottle blanket, or a wet rag like wizza said.
1000-1100 is good..

I'll tell you what the pro's do, which I found out by nosing around and asking questions.
The don't run bottle pressure/temperature regulators at all. They heat their bottles up to 1200-1250 and purge to get it down to where they want it. Normally in the 1050 range. If you run it any higher you are going to lean out because nitrous and fuel jets are sized for that pressure, and anything higher is going to make you lean and anything lower will make you rich and the ECU will not compensate because you are at WOT.
Most of the pro's don't use bottle heaters in their car either, they have an external oven in the trailer where they keep their bottles heated and just grab one and put it in just before they go to the line.

Good thinking! LOL I didn't even think about it throwing off the a/f via the jetting, makes sense though. Even though I'm getting more nitrous, I'm still jetted for less on the fuel end.
Still, I didn't plan on spraying with that kind of pressure. Maybe I'm too cautious, but then, this is my ONLY car so I have to. I might look into a purge system also.
