Bottle Fed --- Couple Quick Questions

Hi guys. I'm a noob to nitrous. Sorry for dumb questions:

I have '97 automatic and thinking about a nitrous setup. Would it be better (cheaper, more HP) to go with a wet or dry kit? Also what kinda shot can I safely do on a stock motor? What kinda gains am I looking at? Thanks for your time.

Felix

stock motor can handle a lot, its just things like the fuel system you should upgrade of you go big. I believe around a 75 shot and up is when you should consider upgrading fuel pump ect.

dry shot is cheaper 60 shot is safest with no upgrades. i did a 75 shot for a summer with no fuel upgrade you just have to test your car to make sure you have enough fuel supply to handle it. i have the stillen kit 5124nos with the 60 shot i was seeing 14.1 @ 96 mph in my auto and with the 75= 13.9 @ 99mph

the dry kit is cheaper and the 60 shot is safer. i have the stillen dry kit 5124NOS. i ran stock set up with the 60 shot and then upgraded to the 75 shot still using the stock set up. you have to get your car tested to make sure you have enough fuel supply but do not go beyond that. i ran a 14.1 @ 96mph with 60 dry shot and 13.7 @ 99mph with 75 shot in my auto. i am currently running a 100 shot with s/c 11lbs. im curious is anybody else running this set-up. it took a lot of tuning but i finally got it to work.

i went to the track last week and had problems. i went with a 30 shot set up to test it out and it kept bogging down. i messed up one run and only had two left so i just ran on the s/c. i ran 14 seconds @ 102mph
with the 11lb s/c set up. i will be going back next wed with a 30 shot set up again. we think the vacuum line was restricted. by the summer i should be up to the 100 shot sounds scary and i dont know what to expect. trial and error i guess.

i've used the 100 shot before with the s/c but only during testing.
i would hit it in between lag real quick off and on nothing too heavy.
at the track i wanted to start off slow with the 30 shot and work my way up. trust me its hard to hit the switch when its already screaming
and when i did hit it at the track it made me nervous when all of a sudden the car boggs like it blew or something. you probably dont know hal who had a turbo and nitrous 100 shot, the fastest max on the org. but he blew something in his car and i dont want to do that yet.so to run a 100 shot a 1/4 mile makes my nerves tingle. once i dyno it with a 100 shot i will feel much better.

yes that was one of the first things i did at performance factory(vinny ten). i had it done about three yrs ago lowered the compression im not sure of the compression ratio but i know its lower than stock.the engine is running sweet for the last three yrs. im not worrying about the engine breaking down im worried about detonation and blown seals etc.in fact im already inquiring about a used motor to rebuild so when i blow this one i wont be down too long. and i will blow it trust me one of these days somebody's gonna **** me off and 200 shot here i come. my boys already mess with me with thier 10 sec cars especially my boy with a evo
that i want to prove to them that i can do it too.

it shouldn't bog unless your running too rich... its like arming and activating your nitrous without the bottle on. It just jams a bunch of fuel into the motor (if running a wet kit). I don't think nitrous coming on is scary at all.... and 100 isn't very big. I have plenty of friends running 200-300 worth (granted its a v-8)
I'd be interested to see Dyno numbers from ya =)

As for building the motor, I don't see a reason you'd need to really. If you run a direct port (I speak on this all the time...), even w/ the boost, you shouldn't have any problems blowing stuff up. Motors are meant to run hard =)

10 second evo he says. i know for sure he ran 12 secs then threw it back in the shop to increase it to 700 hp. im running a dry kit and we figured it out i had a pinched vacuum line.on the pistons im not sure which ones they are but vinny ten put in the kit for me cause originally i was gonna go turbo 20lbs but way too costly so we decided on the s/c with nitrous
cause at that time not too many people were doing it. this set-up is three yrs old and the only thing different is i went from 7lbs of boost and fifty shot to 11lbs of boost with 100 shot. i went to the track just to test it and when i could i will definitely dyno it so i can see what is going on. i just recently became involved with how my car works, im just one of those guys who pay and play but now im getting into the nitty gritty of how it works. i dont like to throw out things cause people take it the wrong way, its usually better to see for yourself and right now at 14 secs in the 1/4 im the slowest of the bunch.p.s. you sound just like my boy 200 shot or bust. i aint got the *****.

700HP evo is impressive.

I grew up w/ domestic guys, so I'm used to being the slow poke. They're finally starting to warm up to the idea of getting an import into the 11's (I think since their street cars are in the 8's and 9's). I posted a bunch of videos, but they got moved to the off topic section (even though there were video's of a 4th gen posted in the 4th gen forum...... don't get me started). Nitrous is a very cool and powerful tool, people just mis-understand it so much.

Sorry for thread hi-jacking

Run a wet kit
75-100 shot
stock motor + fuel pump
