Cost, reliability and you can alway still get boost later.
It's cheaper than boost. You can still drive the car if your nitrous is not working. You can't with a boosted car. SC belt snapped. I don't know much about turbo car so I can't comment on that. Lastly, you can always get boost along with your nitrous. Nothing goes to waste.

I opted for nitrous at first because I had an auto tranny...I didn't want to continuously abuse the supposedly weak auto transmission (to my surpise, I had zero problems with the auto tranny after going through so many bottles... however, I have since converted to a manual) like I would if I had boost. Having nitrous (I've tried 80-125 shot) made the car just as quick if not quicker than comparably modded Maximas (production turbo kits weren't available then, only the Stillen SC). Dyno graphs will show you why.
If I had a manual to begin with, I would have definitely went the SC route...but I would probably have added a small nitrous shot anyway to add more kick.
However, It does suck when you run out of nitrous and need to get a refill ($5/lb here in the SF bayarea). In the short run, nitrous is cheaper, but in the long run, I can definitely see nitrous being more expensive. SC and TC kits have such a high resale value. There's definitely a point where the $ amount spent on nitrous refills exceeds the $ depreciation for SC and TC kits.

When I dynoed the 125 dry shot, I put in the smallest fuel bypass jet i could find (.014) which basically maxed out my fp at 90psi...a/f ratio in the high end was 12.9 to 1.
Now I'm back to 100 shot at 85 psi fuel pressure.

I also wanted to hit 12's in the 1/4 on a 35shot

back to the topic... I like having both. I've been spraying for almost a year. I love it, with the exception of the bottle refills. 10 refills - 350 clams. yes, nitrous is cheap to start out with but you have to keep in mind that if you use it, you have to keep paying. I've been boosted for about 2 hours now. I like it so far... just need to get my druthers and spray again.

I got my NOS kit for $350, I now have 2 bottles, and a few extra parts, and with the refills, I'm still under $800 all together. I have three kids, and dropping $3K is not in the budget. I have surprised so many people with what my car can do, it is great. I bagged a SS Camaro last week, countless mustangs, an EVO, a Porsche, they just don't know what's coming, or going... I want to get back to the track, now that I'm running the 80 shot, and I'm getting some slicks next week. I should be in the low 13's with that. Not to mention, I drive 600 miles or more every week. I like to have the power when I need it.

Remember that there are alot of factors that go into every situation. I ran the Evo on top end, not off the line. I have no doubt whatsoever that I'd get beat out of the hole, but they launch 10 times better than a maxima. I have seen Evo's 60 ft times around 1.7, and I am at 2.2. I can't hit the juice until 30-35 MPH, and I'm way behind until then. After that is a different story, not to mention that they could miss a shift or just not know how to drive the car. The Evo I ran had a girl driving (no offense to the women out here), but I know I did everything right. She could have just bought/borrowed it, but I know my car well. P.S. 13.4 bone stock with professional driver, and it was probably the best run after 50 tries. I have seen 13.7-14.3 at the track. Not all Evo's/drivers are the same.

another thing I take from nitrous is that the xxx amount of shot you use is that much power you'll get. So 100 shot is closely equivalent to 100 extra hp for a cheap price continously whenever you wanna hit the happy gas.
Unlike SC or Turbo which is boost dependent and also requires certain modifications to up boost safely, etc etc

I agree, but... Just like a SC, nitrous is rev dependent, but in the opposite way. A 100 shot at 3000rpm is not the same as a 100 shot at 6000rpm. The same amount of nitrous is being injected but roughly twice the air is being used. Effectively diluting the nitrous charge. Dynos of N2O'ed cars show this very well.
If I recall, boosting a max requires only a fmu and aux pump... depending on the amount of boost desired. Some people, myself included, go a lot further.
Don't get me wrong, N2O has it's place as the best hp booster for the $. The install is 10x easier than a SC'er too. I still love it and can't wait to get it going again with the SCer. Soon, I'll rip out the old ZEX kit and install the multiport N.O.S. kit on this old beast (need to replace the clutch before I tap the manifold). Can you say 'obsessed'?
