Pics of new JWT dry 65 shot setup with custom gauges
Well, I finally got most of the interior done, and I'm loving it. The custom gauge housing was done by Jason (Tapout) and it is amazing. It has the Autometer nitrous pressure gauge and A/F gauge, along with the bottle heater and nitrous activation switches. The only pieces my interior is missing are the leather center console cover and a few 'custom' gunmetal pieces. Well here are some pics.....more on page 4 of my homepage...
I just wanted to post pics to show off Jason's work. He put a lot of effort into my car, and I think it shows. I’m just a little confused about how the A/F gauge is supposed to be read. It runs from lean on the left (red lights) to stoich (yellow) to rich (green) on the right. The rightmost little light of the gauge (green/rich) is constantly lit up as bright as possible, while all the other little lights are also lit up, but a lot dimmer. This gives me the impression that my car is running rich off the chart, but I doubt JWT would tune the ECU so poorly. However, I can’t even see the gauge change when I drive, spray or NA. It might be changing, but it’s too dim for me to see. Anyone have experience with an Autometer A/F gauge before?
So the ECU is set up for a 65 shot (dry) to spray from 3000-6400, and boy does it feel good.. With the MEVI, my traction issues aren’t too bad. I don’t spin at all in 2nd, and I bet at the track I could hold traction in first with the nitrous. If not, I got slicks I really want to dyno my car to see if I am indeed running rich off the chart. I hope to get around 200/200 whp/wtq NA and 260/300 with the 65 shot. If I open my exhaust cutout and get a 70mm TB, I could see some more.
Anyways, I’m loving nitrous so far. I’m just not looking forward to running out at $50 a bottle. I’m am looking forward to putting in new PLATINUM plugs, and tuning my car. Stay tuned for results.

One word.... Awesome. very nice Setup. My one regret is that i have a 99 which prevents the option of an ECU upgrade. If i would i would do exactly what you did. Nice gauge panel.
If you don't mind me asking where did you get those pedals? and how hard were they to install?
Shift **** is also hot. Does it thread right on?
Nice car man

I am sure that you will love your JWT ECU with 65 hp shot setup. I have had mine for over 2 years. I dynoed my car when I originally received it. Not too many mods at the time, just a homemade hacked intake and a slipping clutch. The jet I received in the package was s a .042, good for 80 hp. Either way, I still managed to get 156hp/183 ft-lb all motor and 246 hp /274 ft-lb on the bottle. Notice that the power increase was 90 hp / 91 ft-lb to the wheels. Not bad for a "65 shot" if you ask me.
I notice that you mention platinum plugs. I suggest that you do a bit of research before using platinum plugs with nitrous oxide. My understanding is that they are not recommended for nitrous oxide setups. I personally stick to copper, better spark at a cheaper price.

Well, I got the pedals from a group deal from a dealership. They required a little cutting and tweaking to fit perfectly, but it wasn't too rough. The shift **** is a Sola Luna, and yeah, it threads right on. I love it.
I'm only using platinum because JWT said to use stock plugs. I have them gapped a little tighter though. What plugs did you use meximax, and why?

Check this link out: plug info
I use a standard copper NGK BKR5ES-11 gapped at .044. They are the same heat range as our stock platinums.

Turns out the clutch doesn't take too well to the 65 shot. It's some crappy OEM-wannabe clutch, and I'm gonna have to replace it sometime, cause this clutch won't hold on the track....damnit

i was just looking at your homepage your entire interior is hot. Much more attractive than the regular 4th gen interior. The all nice touches. congrats on having a one of a kind car.
One more question did you just screw the kickplate/footrest into the floor? what actually holds the pedals to the assmblies? are their set screws or any screws?

Thanks for the compliments on the interior...I'm pretty fond of it too
Yeah, we just drilled the deadpedal into the floor. To put the pedals on, I believe both the clutch and brake pedals just slid on to a rod and were tightened up. The gas pedal was similar, but part of the hole had to be trimmed to get it to fit.

the platinum can run hot enough to melt and will eat through the top of the piston when it drips. for nitrous stay away from copper or iridium plugs. dependent on how your plugs read you may have to go 1 to 2 steps colder on them. go with a colder range copper plug. better safe than sorry.

Where do you get your bottle filled for that cheap?
Anyone know how much MIR charges for a refill?

i get mine filled at a local performance shop that is about 2miles from the house.
and yea, its kinda hard to tell whether one is being a **** or just joking when not using any smilies. and plus I'd to see Nick start crying over a little name calling.
now back to my post on the sofa to look out for the UPS man.

nice looking setup, but that a/f guage is useless and basically just an LED light show. I would recommend getting an EGT guage if your using it more for monitoring or if money isnt an option some type of wideband.
#36
Oh, I'm well aware the gauge does nothing. I got it as part of a package deal, so I decided I would throw it in for the time being since I don't have enough money to replace it with anything worth while.

[QUOTE=Bluebird]I pay $55 to get mined filled when it is completely empty.
You pay out the a** for Nitrous up there! The shop I go to charges $2 bucks a pound, altough the shop is a piece of crap the prices are good. Nitrous is nitrous right, never had a single problem with a refill. All the other shops around here charge $2.50 - $3.00.

Wrong...you want copper plugs since the electrode is wider and harder to blow out (or easier to ignite in the instance of n2o)...
