Hiding the Bottle

I got my NX kit and i'm Currently installing it. Where would be some good places to hide the 10lbs. bottle. I have a mostly stock interior so putting it in the sub box is not an option. Could i possibly hide it under the back seat or is there no room?

not going to work. Your fuel tank is under the back seat. Why not put it in the trunk and cover it with a gym bag or any kind of bag. That way it looks like there is a bag there.

Take your spare tire out, build a false floor with some mdf or plywood, lay the carpet back on top of it, be done. You're basically building the floor up. You should have a deep enough wheel well to set the bottle down there.

I don't use my spare, and if I had to I couldn't anyways. The 19's and drop would scrap my car with one spare on. So that's why I suggested that. There's org members here that carry a can of fix a flat with them, and said it seems to work. Maybe another option for you. Or you can just not get nitrous, then you wouldn't have to worry about hiding anything. Are you hiding from the parents or the law?

It's best to leave the bottle at home and only put it in on days you'll use it.

I'm hiding it from the law mostly. My dad knows that i'm buying it, hes not very happy to say the least so the less hes sees it the more happy he is. also i just wanted a sleek sleeper look. Keeping the bottle out of my car on days i don't use it is a preaty good idea.

There is no point in having the bottle with you every day. You'll get the urge to race. Without the nitrous your car is a lot slower. Plus the fact it's about $30 to refill it. a 10lb bottle is usually good for 7-8 runs/races. In some places as long as the hose is disconnected from the bottle they(cops) will not say anything.

I mounted mine behind the driver seat. Ya Ya... I know its "recommended" to mount it parallel with the length of the car but I weight the bottle after every track day and always refill before I get under 1lb. I've used it several times now with awesome results. What others are saying about leaving the bottle out cept for race day is SOUND advice. The temptation is high man..trust me. (not to mention expensive). I JB welded a bung under the body where the blow down tube exits so I can cap it when the bottle is out.

Heres some pics:

PB so far is 14.2 on a 50 shot but I should be down closer to 13.8-13.9 I've been told. This is my first season racing with a 5spd so I'm still learning launch techniques and trying to improve 60' times. I'm not uping the jets anymore until I've gotten better.

or you could still put it in the trunk and build something that is flexible and flows with the contours of the trunk, then cover that with carpet and a non maxima owner would never know the difference

Yeah i think i'm going to mount it in the trunk. I going to try to mount it in a unique location, haven't found one yet though. i might mount it behide the rear seat arm rest, so i can surprise my friends when i say open up the trunk, and twist the **** on that bottle.

I'll Try to get some pics up as soon as its installed completely or my dad gets his carmera back, which ever comes first.

what's the reason behind installing the bottle parallel w/ the length of car?

nitrous bottles are designed
with the bottom of the siphon tube at
the bottom of the bottle towards the
outlet. Always mount the bottle so that
as your car accelerates, the liquid
flows toward the pickup tube.

you can also customize a subwoofer box to cover up the bottle, mount the bottle in a wooden box and design it or something...

I've heard of that idea too. It's a lot easier to just cover it with a bag.

True story but I haven't had any issues yet. I just make a habit never to go below 2lbs remaining. (yes I actually weigh the bottle after every session). I can't see it being a problem unless you are trying to ween the last few ounces of juice out the bottle.

Actually after you are down to 3 lbs its pretty much toast. If you do mount laterally turn the bottle slightly towards the front of the car so the pickup tube is towards the rear and slightly elevated so that when you accelerate and it goes towards the rear of the bottle the pickup tube will still be submerged at low levels. Remember you are going to be accelerating when you use it.
