Have some 4th gen nitrous questions

I'm tired of my altima 2.4L. I was thinking of selling it and buying a 4th gen and switching my nitrous setup to it.

Does a 4th gen have a distributor like it's smaller brother altima??

Which Walbro 255 pump will fit on the 4th gen?

Also what fuel pressure regulator can I use on the 4th gen?

No, 4th gen maxima uses coil packs.

Yes, a Walbro 255 will fit on our cars but if u are just going spray a wet kit, a 190lph is all you need. Just get a universal AFPR and it'll work on our cars whether if u have a 190 or 255...

how big of a shot do you plan on running? fuel pump and an AFPR might not be needed.

125 max. For the altima I can't take it beyond 75 shot without replacing the pistons.

i got a stock fuel system on a 75 shot and the car could use some fine tuning but other than that it runs great. I just bought a fuel pump and plan on upgrading to a 125 shot with just the pump. I don't think an AFPR is absolutely necessary but it is always a good safety precaution to take.

Also can the NX maximizer be used on a 4th gen??? I've seen it used on a 5th gen but not 4th gen.

Great. 4th gen it is. Just waiting to sell the altima and will pick a 4th gen.

All I need for the 4th gen is pump, fpr, headers, slicks, 15x7 rims, intake, and exaust. I allready got everything else.

Put my 125 shot in this weekend. Lets just say all of 1st and most of 2nd was tractionless and I still smoked a G35 6spd handily. Man I need some DR or Slicks lol. We'll see how she does this weekend at the track....
BTW is that a 190 lph or 255lph? I don't think that one you listed would fit on a maxima... Are u planning on a wet or dry kit???
This is where I bought my 190lph: http://www.autoperformanceengineering.com/
All u need is the bare pump GSS250 and no hardware.

255 pump. It's for an altima. I just wondered if it fit because that one was waiting to be put in the altima.

Did you run the 125 shot on one step colder plugs? Any problems?

2 step colder, fuel pressure @ 45 WOT and jet sizes are N:0.057 and F:0.032
Spec Stage 3 clutch to hold it... so far no problems other than see my bottle go empty in a lot faster period of time.

Im afraid to run 125 shot with no race fuel. I am going with 100 soon. Moving up from 75. Plus dont want to have 2 step colder plugs. They made my ride a lot slower when I had them installed.

Did you race the G32 at a track and if you did what did you run? By how much did you take him? Also dont spray 1st, there is no point.

no it was on the steet (I know, I know but he was egging me on so I had to) We went from a stop: launched/caught @ 3.0k/sprayed/broke loose/shifted/sprayed/broke loose for a sec or two/caught/pulled. Even loosing traction, I stayed next to him if not pulled slighty but by the time I hit mid-third and let off, it was a good 2-3 cars?(had a hard time paying attention to him while trying watch for cops and stuff) it was the first time I sprayed 125, it caught me off guard how much more traction u loose with the extra 25 hp. Raced a new Mustang GT and had him a good 4 cars by the time we were done.
I'm up here in UT so I'm really not expecting a good time cuz of the elevation. I mean my buddy running a 75 shot with DRs ran a wopping 14.1 @ 98ish mph. Correct those numbers would put him in low/flat 13.0s. I hope to see 13.0s here which would put me in the 12s sea level.

Next time, don't waste time/N2O in first gear. You will break traction even in 2nd with 125 shot.

Sounds to me like I need to only go with a 50 shot until I get the maximizer. Running a higher shot is pointless when you got no traction.

Amen to that - I was just at Kansas City's strip on Friday night for my first visit - to see how things are done there - and went with street BFGs 225x55x16s and the primary nozzle set to 50-shot. Could only get 2 14.3-100.5 mph runs in, but tires screamed through 1st and halfway through 2nd (auto). Guys in the stands said they could hear the tires when N2O was engaged.

Now that I just received JClaw's traction bars ( J-bars ?) , I can mount the BFG drag radials (255x50x16) and use the 50+100 shots I have set up. I'll be back Friday for another "shot" at the track. Heh.

Yes, I do use 104-octane for the heavier shots - and NGK Iridium one-step-colder plugs. And a 15lb NX bottle with the HiFlow100 plumbing. You can empty that bottle really fast........

I have another question...
The maximizer can retard the timing. But it said on some cars it can't retard the timing. On a 4th gen can it retard the timing?

The Maximizer has a switch to retard the timing but the car has to have an ignition system with a timing retard function. It also has a Trans brake signal input but again you have to have a trans brake for it to work.

I understand. The MSD has all that but the retard works. I just don't see anymore potential from the altima.

I have searched under your name and found a lot of interesting info. I will have to definetly get this maximizer and the wideband that is sold for it.

$930 for that whole setup is nothing compared to the complete msd setup That i spent $550 on.

I paid $364 for the same stuff. But I had to get a cap modified, and plus a window switch, and other little stuff.

A maxima has a lot more potential. They make a lot more stuff for it plus you can do a VQ35 swap to it. A 240-265hp 3000lb car. Plus once you start putting i/h/e that goes up.

What kind of "universal" regulator are you talking about? I was looking at some on Summit and they had different pressure settings like 20-150 or something. Most dont go over 60 and I'm running nitrous and I will need more then that.
