Who has tried 100shot without fuelpump or injector upgrades?

Just wanted to see who here has tried using a 100 shot without upgrading fuel pump and injectors, and what was the outcome.

why risk it? you will be just as happy with a wet 75 shot on stock fuel pump and injectors (yes you'll be at the maximum jet you should run with the stock items, but it will still be safe unlike with the 100 shot)....just not worth what might happen for an extra 25hp...

upgraded injectors wouldn't be necessary. just upgrade the fuel pump and some one step colder plugs and you'll be good.

From what I here the many people have had the walbro fuel pump fail on them. Is'nt the stock pump more reliable? I know it's lower pressure but I would think it would be less likely to fail.

Wow...that's impressive guys! I assume that we are all talking about a 75-100 dry shot? Also...what's it cost to fill a 10lb bottle?

no no no, not dry shot! this is wetshot we are talking about. anything above 75 should be wet shot otherwise there would be to much tuning involved it is just better to go with wet on higher shots, at least in our cars that i kno of.. in my area i get fills for 20 bucks for a 10lb bottle.

unfortunatley i did, lol. i did three runs at the track then boom.this is how it looked before the rebuild (this was with 14lbs of boost also) stock injectors and pump.

well i am sure the 14lbs added to the stress and caused ur engine failure, wonder if 100shot alone no boost would have done the same... i have been thinking of another thing though. alot of guys on here have tried top speed nitrous runs and blown their engines. my question is, what were the causes? Hitting rev limiter/fuel cutoff is an obvious one, or maybe spryin for long time causing very high EGT and detonation. but my thing is, if i am running N/A and at high speeds for example 115mhp, and rpms on my auto 3rd gear are at like 4k(not sure wat rpms are at 115) and i spray for a few seconds. will that cause any damage? i dont think it would but wat u cmax think bout that?

The engine is already under high stress at high speeds. Adding nitrous to the top end will put more stress. My car has no problems with nitrous up to 75mph. After 75mph my engine goes into 3rd and it's really long and you can hear it struggle. I have auto. Here is what I can tell you. My 3rd starts at about 25mph and ends at 125mph. The fastest I've gone with a 75 shot is 120mph and it wouldn't budge anymore. The fastest I've gone with NA is 130mph. Same mods.

100 shot alone in the 1/4 is very doable because the load isnt as great as being at high speeds on the highway. failure as i have learned comes from detonation, meaning something got too hot and burned before it was suppose too. if you have the proper monitoring devices you should be able to avoid serious detonation. as i look back at how stupid i was running blindly hoping for the best is not the way to run 100 shot. the motors can take a tremendous beating due to the fact on top of a 75 shot im running boost. sometimes i detonate but i have safegaurds to help save the motor. sonicdust recently tried a straight 100 shot with walbro and stock injectors and is now having problems from it so it works sometimes and someimes it doesnt go as planned. i wouldnt suggest a 100 shot to someone new at this because it can become very costly to the pocket.

oh for sure i agree totaly, I would never try 100 shot unless i had the proper monitoring and safety devices (egt, wideband, maximizer). Today i finally wired up my Window switch correctly and let me say OMG! 75 shot is amazing, i am more than happy with the output even with the pressure kinda low at 750-800. Im sure at 950-1000 ill get even more power out of it.

Also its a given that at highspeed compared to 1/4 the engine is under more pressure and stress. but my question is why? wouldnt spraying on all through 2nd gear be as stressful as spraying all through 3rd gear? or since the higher gears have more load on the engine thats what causes the extra stress at high speeds? it may sound like a n00blish question lol but im trynna see the technical side of it, not the simple answer.

this is why i failed so many times with my motor, i assumed that pressure and load was what caused the motor to fail. detonation doesnt need pressure or stress to happen, all it needs is the right environment to happen. heat is the key word, too much heat causes combustion to early in the chamber throwing everything into chaos causing engine damage. now heat can be caused by stress and pressure but can also be caused by inadequate fuel supply which gets worse as the car reaches high speed.like i said for the most part you can get away with it for a short period of time but combine that with the high heat of consistent high speed driving, boom.

bottom line 1/4 racing is better for the engine than highway runs right?

on a 100 shot and up the best place for that is the 1/4. but i have sprayed from 50-75 on 1 mile runs with no problems. 100 is just too volatile to beat up on.

today i had my share of runs with 75. and man i love it! is there a huge differerence in pressure. like running it with 800psi vs. 1000psi? is the hp gain alot more on 1000 or berly noticible?

nitrous is nothing without a bottle heater. My 75 shot felt like a 35 shot with no bottle heater. When I got a bottle heater for my 75 shot the only place I could get traction was in 3rd gear. After a lot of learning I managed to use it in 1st after 2.5k rpm.

I left it at 1050. At the track it would go all the way up to 1400. I let some out, I'm not going to risk my motor with 1400. Besides 1050 with 75 shot was enough to cause my tranny slip. 1400 would of probably broken my tranny.

Just a tranny cooler and new tranny fluid. I have a 4 cyl altima so I can't go up to a 100 shot. Still 75 is close enough.

yes thats why u have different jet sizes. they were design to be ran with 950-1000psi, otherwise it will not spray nitrous with the appropiate amount. Just dont go over the given pressure otherwise you will run lean.

I just did my first highway run with the 75 shot and it was scary, i started hearing stuff (probably in my head since i was paranoid) started from 80mph to a lil over 100, wasnt trying to top out or anything was just seeing if i could keep up with someone. i herd like stuff hitting my windshield so i let off i think there were just lil rocks on the floor, after i let off i herd alot of backfire and popping, but then i kept driving and the car was perfect, got home the idle was steady nothing weird... i wont do it again though, feels like im going to brake something at those speeds with nitrous (and without)

People just don't understand, nitrous is not for top end. It improves your top end but put a lot of strain on it. Using nitrous after 90mph is pointless unless it's the 1/4 mile.

no I didnt feel any power loss,i was still keeping up with the person. I will check my plugs today to see if they show signs of detonation.
