Nitrous noob question:

Is it ok If I use my brand new OEM NGK plugs and also running 17 degree timing advance if I run a 75 shot ZEX kit?

I hear all these things about people using colder plugs but I just want to ask a stupid question before I actually do something stupid.

Umm its my understanding that running nitrous with a timing advance would cause detonation. Someone else care to chime in? the OEM plugs are fine, if you plan on running under a 50 shot or so. Anything higher i would go a step colder or two.

advance timing + nitrous = new engine

55shot stock heat range plugs will be fine

75shot 1step colder and regap them

I am a Noob to nitrous but, Is it the base timing?...if so, that advance should only affect anything under 2K RPM's. Unless you are spraying under 2K (not good) then you will be fine. This is the way I undersand it all.

It is indeed 17 degree base timing on 5th gens.

So it's OK to run my 17 degree timing which is still within OEM specs?

I'm getting 1 step colder NGK plugs as well when running 75 shots.

I believe it ranges from 14 deg up to 17 deg within OEM specs.

Mine was at 14 when my mechanic adjusted it.

Nah stick with the OEM or V-type NGK coppers, 2 steps colder of course. Gap to about .36-.40

Can you use your OEM NGK plugs yes, would i recommend it "NO". If they are platinum type then a Definite "NO". Just get some NGK coppers and call it a day. It won't hur t anything and they don't cost much.

Enjoy the spray
