Has anyone ever heard of this, I went to get my bottle filled and they couldn't do it cause the manfacture date was 01 and they told me I would have to have it retested before they could fill it. anyone else have this problem. thanks

I dont know about that. Ive had my nitrous for about 2 yrs, so i havent encountered that problem yet. I am however a certified SCUBA diver and we have to get leak down test on our tanks every once in a while (not sure on the length of time).

I know in canada we have the thing. I know cuz on my co2 tank for my paintball gun, transport canda has a 7 year rule or something. There is a date stamped on the tank when it was manufactored, and when it passes a certain age, the tank must be re-tested or destroyed. I guess they figure after X amount of years it may not be safe to refill.

Nitrous bottles id assume are the same way, but im not too sure.

I checked with a couple nitrous refillers and they confirmed that you have to have a test done on the tanks every 5 years before they will fill them. I found a few places in town that do the tests for under $20, unless of course you need a new valve. The cheapest place I could find said $12 for the test, and $20 for the valve. It's only every 5 years, so not bad in my opinion. The way to go is rent a large tank, buy the filling attachment and fill your own bottles. You save a ton of money.
