MEVI = about what in the 1/4

Hey I just got my car inspected so I am going to install my mevi this weekend

now my question is about how much could installing this intake improve my times and mph. there will be no other changes made to the car

I have read some other threads and have seen mixed results anywhere it will only help your mph to 3-4tenths off your et. hopefully someone here has run their car before and after and mevi can post what they have experinced

In an N2O situation, it will definitely help. How much remains on other factors.

In NA form, there are many people against it. And rightfully so. But in FI/N2Oapplications, it WILL/DOES help over USDM.

Gonna do it, eh? In my limited experience, the MEVI makes a big difference to your power above 5000 RPMs. An efficient CAI, a non-restrictive exhaust, and the engine will put it out for you.

My car pulls HARD until fuel-cut, and my MSD is set to switch the MEVI at 4800. It's set that low because the engine revs so quickly, and it takes a little time for the butterflies to flop open.

Nobody can say how much - if any - you can reduce your ETs.

Go for it.

this is a good point that I did not even think about. I am going to the dyno after it's install and I have a msd 8969 so playing with different setting will not be a problem

ok just installed the mevi and will be hitting the dyno in a few weeks with a 100shot

65bucks for 4 pulls, 1st will be with the mevi closed, 2nd open, 3rd nitrous and 4th nitrous with adjustments. I think this will net the most info for my pulls

will post the results

have you dynoed with the usdm? curious to see some comparisons with the nitrous. I would hate to give up my lowend, but if it will make the difference in nitrous runs, i wouldnt care.

no I do not but from what I read in the dyno forum the mevi really does not make that much more power it maintains the power to redline.

example: stock intake at 5500rpms=180hp / at 6500rpms=130hp
mevi intake at 5500rpms=180hp / at 6500rpms=185hp

these are not real dyno #'s just a example but should be close, there was a thread which showed 00vi and mevi #'s but I can not view it. either way this is great for drag racing cause I'll get a extra 50hp on the top end. I will post the dyno results

That's how it works..... power extends to fuel-cut at 6650 - there's just a little rolloff as you get near peak RPMs...

nice pic

I had my switch set for 5000rpms but I could feel it kick in so I lowered it to 4900. I figured that I should not feel a kick in power it should just continue to pull

Yeah -good read - if the butterflies snap open quickly, there will be a kick if they open too late. Depending on how you switch the butterflies, there can be some delay in how quickly they change over.

Before and after dynos (no MEVI switchover vs switching at preset RPM) would be conclusive proof on best RPMs. Most don't do that, like me. 4800 works for me.

Like every other mod, it's what works best for your setup that matters.....

my experience may not be too helpful to you because im n/a, 5 speed, i cant drag race to save my life, and i dont think ive come even close to getting the best out of my car. also, track conditions were a little different between runs (pre-MEVI in NC and post-MEVI in Florida).

But for what its worth, My best run(which sucks) before Mevi was 15.3@91.7mph and my best time out of two runs after MEVI (which sucks even more) was 15.69@90mph. But like i said i suck and conditions were much worse in Florida, leading me to believe that the car stayed pretty much the same. extended rev and tune coming sooner or later!

N/A with a MEVI, you've got to have tuning and extended rev limit, or don't bother.

I was looking to either a em or call jwt and see how much they would charge for a ecu reflash with just the extended rev limiter

if they are willing to do it cheap I may go that way since I do not need the advanced timing and leaned out fuel maps with the nitrous

I have read some other threads and have seen mixed results anywhere it will only help your mph to 3-4tenths off your et. hopefully someone here has run their car before and after and mevi can post what they have experinced
Never install my mevi becuase i was auto,i sold it because of mixed results of NA.I also dont have any nitrous experience but i can see it doing very well with a 75shot.the mevi is good to top end and well your mods and 75shot would put you in the top end pretty quick so the more top end you got with the spray i would say your times should greatly improve.Thats my opinion.

I just sorry now that I will not get a chance to hit the track as a auto and try the mevi with a 100shot. hopefully my 5-speed skills are not too rusty and I can get a pass in this year

well I went on the highway and made 2 passes and chirped 1st, 2nd and 3rd without the juice

was going to run a 100shot but it looks like I will need to learn all over again how to drive with spray, so the 50shot is going back in

wonder if I can chirp 4th gear with a 50 or 75shot

You lose time with chirping.....chriping means slippage of the wheels. Slicks for FTMFW! I am getting prices now for some slicks for myself looking to get some 22x8x15's. That should net me some 1.7 60ft's. Slicks along with a xtreme pp should put me deep in the 12's..

btw I knew you couldn't wait, what did you get a little buzz lastnight and say F it?? Can't wait till tomorrow night so I can see what you got

yeah I figured the clutch is good for over double the torque I have n/a and with 350+ miles 2 passes would not hurt it

I went to r & s struss today for some new plugs and they were closed, getting ready for the spray. I ordered a new bottle warmer and it will be in monday so if the weather holds up I'll be at the track in december for a pass and hopefully a new pb
