Sup guys. Does anyone know if having Waste Spark ignition increase the chance of a nitrous backfire? (i have waste spark because i use the J&S).

I would assume not since the intake valves are closed during the exhaust stroke when the extra spark happens.

Pretty sure that the ignition doesn't have anything to do with backfires.

A nitrous backfire is the result of fuel puddling in the intake/intake mani. Spraying too low in the rpm range can cause this.

Beside what has already been said nitrous isn't flammable on its own. Now if we had batch fuel injection there might be some reason for concern.

It's highly likely that he's using a wet kit. That would mean there is both fuel and nitrous being injected.

Good point. But like you said, the extra spark occurs when the intake valves are still closed (late exhaust stroke) so there's no risk of something going wrong.

I just saw these replies, sorry was in chicago for a week. So yea, after doing some reading and thinking i concluded that I shouldnt have issues with waste spark and nitrous, and yea it would be a wet kit. For now im going to hold off on the nitrous, instead I am putting in a bigger turbo I got, so it should take care of my HP goals. (my current turbo is maxed out)

Do NOT use a waste-spark system in your application. I would be suspicious of waste spark with an intake system under pressure and completely filled with explosive mixture. Think of your intake with NOx and fuel to be a pipe-bomb, sitting next to an ignition source.

Exactly the reason for my post, 15 lbs (my boost) of pressurized nitrous, fuel, air, and methanol is probably good enough to take out a small building.....

What chance does it have of causing any issues when the intake valves are closed, though? I'd be more worried about heat igniting it.

Well the chances should be slim to none, unless the valves are leaking or something, or rev limiter hit. Either way, I have determined if I do go with nitrous, its going to be a dry shot, 50hp or less, no higher.
