No tutorial, just my 2003 3.5 ltr rebuild

Car started missing and knocking, pining, or rattling. diagnosed as " done for " So my plan was to buy a new ( used ) motor. but 1st wanted to know why this motor died..

precats disentegrated sucked back into the motor scored cylinder walls car drank oil ran dry kaboom.

it's a 3.5 problem. our tiny dek engines were spared this fate

that's why you see so many people saying "gut your precats" or "get headers" for the 5.5 gen

2,4,6 ( front ) ring end gaps were rather large.. Id say in the spectrum of .200" to .220" range.. Compared to the factory spectrum as being .0091" to .0374" as per Chilton! 1,3,5 ( rear ) I never had one in the cylinder but there end gaps looked waaaaaay better pinched on the piston..But the number 5 lower ring or middle ring was broke

Cylinders bored .020 over and crank just needed to be polished.. the heads just needed a good cleaning, so the head guy said.. he resurfaced it as well
