Don't take it to a shop. Do it yourself. Leds are plug and play. U don't even have to drop the bumper. U can reach it from fender wells. I have never worked under a car and I thought it was ez as hell. Go for leds since they last longer. I have the morimoto leds for like 6 months now and no problem at all. Not the brightest but looks pretty good at night. Cost me only $120 and half an hour install time.

Factory led headlights are seal so there is no way to remove or to see led size build.

I previously posted this in the LED Headlight thread. Not 100% sure but believe our headlights are 35Watts. Anyway...
For anyone interested I bought and installed the OPT7 H11s. They were OK but as pointed out in some of the reviews the down road throw is a little weak. So I ordered these from The Retrofit Source (TRS)
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/le...o-2stroke.html. Significant improvement in overall brightness and more importantly down road throw is much improved. OPT7s and Morimoto 2Stroke are the same price $100. For the money the Morimoto 2Stroke are much better and worth trying if your looking to go LED. Can't compare to HID or the OEM LEDs on the Platium as I haven't seen either but more than satisfactory as far as I'm concerned. The warranty on the Morimoto site is 18 months. TRS warranty is 3 years. We will see if they hold up.

I have these in 5k 55w. In my opinion they are only acceptable with the additional 5,680 lumens from 4 DD fog lights. The beam is much weaker at distance and the throw is not as far as the halogen. But the color is great. They're definitely not as bright as the platinum LED's since we have one as well. The reason I went with these over the Morimoto is that they match the DRL perfectly. Interested to see how the 2stroke compares, even though they are 6k. Still waiting on DD to release their SL1 led headlights and we'll see if they're any good or the same knock off junk.

Interesting. The OPT7s are rated at 3500LM per bulb. The Morimoto 2Strokes are rated at 5000LM per bulb. The SNGL are rated at 5200LM per bulb. I find the 2Strokes fine for downroad throw especially compared to the OPT7s.

Few questions: 1) How long did it take? 2) Did you ship them? 3) Is the Black chrome-delete painted or PlastiDip? 4) Please describe the Halo you used as that is what I want do as well. (see image below) 5) Cost? (In the research I’ve gathered it could cost between $900-$1,200)

Can you please post the steps for replacing the lowbeam bulbs from vanquishauto and what all comes in the kit. I am not mechanically inclined.

How to remove headlight assembly

Hi Guys,

Since this is the thread on the LED and HID discussion on the 8th Gen, I have the 2017 Platinum and I am wondering how to exactly get to the high beams easily? Do I need to remove the assembly on each side to get access to it? If anyone has the steps on doing this I would very much appreciate it. Also do you need to drop the splash shield on the bottom to access the fogs like with previous models?

Thanks

Quick Question. I have a 2016 Maxima SL I'm planning on installing a LED kit. My question is this. Are the Platinum high beams LED as well as the Low Beams? I'm assuming there's a kit for the fogs as well?

I'm looking at getting the Opt7 FluxBeam LED Kit. Does anyone know if the TIPM Stabilizing Resistor is needed for a 2016 Maxima SL?

You do not need the resistors however see my post above. I ran the OPT 7 for a few weeks but didn't like the lack of down road throw. For a few dollars more you can get the Mirimotos 2Stokes. Better light in my opinion.

If you have a platinum, i wouldn't even think of changing low beams to anything. IF you are unhappy with the color i would go with TRS only if they provide anything for a Maxima. For SR i don't know as i don't know anything about it for low beams, i own 17 platinum so i know it has leds for low beam.

The reason why i say don't change is because previously i owned a 2013 Altima, and before i got TRS HID kit, i installed all the ebay leds, hids and there was always something going on e.g, lights would give, wouldn't start, flicker when really cold. If left on automatic and start car they wouldn't start, ballast would give and it was a pain to change them. What i mean to say is that to get into changing a bulb or an entire hid kit is a pain, to getting under the car, turning wheel, opening the plastic etc etc. I suggest, leave them as OEM. After i installed TRS kit on Altima i didn't have any issue.

The more you change your vehicle, the more work it might need. To my platinum, i only switched out easy LED bulbs.

good luck with your HIDS!

Do any of you know if it is just the Platinum that comes with the HID light setup? I am torn between the SL and Platinum and that could make me sway toward the Platinum.

Thanks in advance!
In my opinion the platinum is the best overall options for maxima but if you want a more sporty, fun and performance feel than the maxima already is the sr is the way to go. I similar with sv but with paddle shift steering wheel, and I believe sport tuned suspension and dampers and sway bars are better I want to say and possibly even better brakes but don't quote me on that one. They look better too, but if you drive fun for aggressive the handling experience in sr will set it apart from the other maximas. As far as headlights go, I went from a 16 malibu with led projectors. Go online and buy diamond vision f9 led builds for that maxima and thank me later. The malibu is leaps and bounds safer to drive at night weather it's a deer populated area or at high speeds. The maxima with their factory led makes me feel like I don't even have headlights. The dv f9 led are 100 or so. Also novsight make a set around 66 dollars. 40k lumens they claim but they perform even better in terms of lumens over the diamonds for 30 cheaper. The difference is not visible driving they both amazing but price is nice. Both have fans in them to run cool also. You will not regret buying either.
