What's up, I recently replaced my control arms , tie rod ends and driver side axle. Like 2 days after that I noticed a popping/Clunking noise when I turn, go over bumps and sometimes when stopping.. And I also noticed that one side of the car is like 1inch lower than the other. Could the struts be bad? It's not bouncing bad at all. just handling weird. (That may be my sway bar links) HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!
This me not be related but I hope you tighten the front lca nut with the suspension under load. I tore up the bushing so fast last time before I knew better...

I am having the same exact issue tie rods brand new, ball joints are good everything is good I keep hearing a clunking noise over bumps any little bunp....I have bc coilovers and I hear the clunking know the driver side, but the coilover feels good I don't know why it is took it to the shop and everything seems great but that noise is driving me ape **** already..... can someone help me out
Struts bottoming out will cause clunking, too, so yeah. I mean nothing else should be making noise since you replaced those parts, too.
Are you going to get this guy to replace his entire suspension as you keep doing with every one who has this clunking noise?
Dynamic Dampener bands may be your issue if you installed the drive shaft without them
and if that's the issue then it won't go away no matter how many parts you replace.
Damper bands absolutely have nothing to do with ride height, clunking or any other issues being discussed here.
It could be a strut issue but it seems like the car would bounce on that side if it was bad enough to bottom out.
nestorlugo may be on to something too. I've never had it happen but others have had the same problem with tightening everything down unloaded. That could cause a clunk and ride height difference.
Also, have you had the car aligned after doing this work?

That sounds as though it will solve the issue.
It may have been from popping the tie rod ends and now you have a clunking noise.
This is most likely why they say you'll need an alignment.
The alignment is necessary whenever swapping tie rod parts. They control the direction of the wheel and there's a lot of room to adjust them. Even if you mount them with the exact same adjustment there are still variances in the part itself.
Control arm replacement also requires an alignment. There are variances in the new part as well as deformity of the old bushings which affected previous alignments.
I had the popping clunking noise after the drive shaft but didn't get the wheel alignment. Derrick2k2se seems to have pinpointed it but does the noise eventually go away?
The alignment is separate from the clunking and height issue.
It's nearly impossible to diagnose a clunk like this over the computer. We can name off parts that make noise and sometimes guess based on recent work but without being there it's just guessing.
Since it has to be aligned anyway it may be worth it to ask the alignment shop to look at it.
Maybe when the drive shaft is removed the strut mount takes a load. After the adjustments the car may make a popping noise. Personally I didn't begin replacing until I've got to the bottom of it.
If it didn't clunk beforehand then it's something that was caused by the adjustments
Turns out the it was the strut, my mechanic told me the coil spring was bad which caused the titling of the car and also with the noise he told me the lower control arm wasn't torqued properly. Not sure if that's what caused the noise. But it stopped for sure!! I REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP..

good to hear you got it sorted.
did you replace both struts and which side was the noise on?
Glad you got it worked out fixed my issue as well, turned out the top bolt under adjustment **** on the coilover was loose tightened everything up and noise free for good now
I've been over it again and again and I can't translate the popping/clunking to anything other than transmission noises from the new drive shaft.
Nissan may not have it published however I read this was an issue with certain makes back in the 90's.
What it may be is the transmission splines misaligned with the drive shaft splines.
I took out the old shaft on my 2001 and it was almost identical to the new one (-) the damper band.
Just a comment to consider
I may rebuild my original drive shaft then remove/replace damper bands with new ones and I'll get back to you.

If the noise came from the side the axle was replaced then it's possible there was some added pressure during the adjustment. Those LCA s get a tightening sequence. As long it's nothing serious you got nothing to worry about.
