supercharging a 4th gen with an auto tranny....

I was wondering how much power the stock auto tranny can hold with a supercharge and what kind of mods are necessary and such....any info would be great...

It all depends on the current condition of your tranny but a must would be to get a Valve body upgrade and tranny cooler.

Even with the stock pulley you will still be able to chirp the 1-2 shift. Yep, you're ready to take the V2!

You may want to ask nymjayjay..he is on the 3.25, original tranny, only added a VB and cooler after he was over 100k. I don't think his tranny has ever slipped on him, must be a factory freak tranny.

It all depends on how hard/constantly push your car. I've haven't had any major issues with my tranny but I've only had the s/c for maybe 40k miles now. However, it has gone threw about 15 road race events. It slips at about 130 mph (on the track) but how often does that happen...

All I can say is, be sure you have the VB and tranny cooler. After my first day with my new V2 and only the tranny cooler, I think its time to install the VB that is sitting here in my bedroom. I ofund that withot the VB, my tranny is having trouble finding gears at WOT. I guess its too much power with the 3.33" pulley. Man, the V2 is the greatest, I took out a few turbo cars today on th highway, late model turbo Prelude, and a turbo hatchback Civic.

I dont beat on my car but I dont baby it either I would say I "drive" it harder with boost. My tranny is holding up very well with Don's VB (knock on wood). I have had boost for about 7k miles and have 117k on the original tranny.

That's funny. Well, I never had the VB until last night and I was able to spin the tires at the end of my 1st gear and then chirp into 2nd. Pretty cool since they're heavy Konig 18's.

Well I have Jeff's vb mod (street/strip one). Im not sure what stage this is. Maybe 2. I dont have the supercharger installed yet Damn thing has been in the trunk for 2 months at least. I would stick with this one if I was getting one. I couldnt imagine something shifting harder for everyday driving.

My stage 2 is pretty jerky for my everyday commute with the SC. It only snaps from the 1-2 shift, even harder when I rev high, but every other shift is just quick but not neck breaking. I wonder how the stage 3 is.

yeah when I had don's that was my experience, 1-2 was neck wrenching...then 2-3 and 3-4 were fast, but smooth really. Anyone have the stage 3?

my car was supercharged in mid Oct. I have a 5th gen/auto with 36000 (now 39000), VB'ed @ 34000.....My tranny seems fine except the first - second is shifting really strong recently, like when it's shifting, it got pulled foward a bit. Tell me if this is normal......or my tranny has just gone mental. (suspecting throttle position sensor adjustment as the cause)

otherwise, I would recommand to have VB and cooler. Do not boost 1st - 2nd too much. Remember, auto tranny is weaker and more complicated than manual ones. Oh! and start to save 50 dollars a month for 5spd swap....just in case, just in case.

yes, ease off the throttle....
depends on which pulley you use. with a pulley like 3.33, boost kicks-in at 2700rpm. I usually keep my shift point under 2700. heard a 2.87 pulley will boost the car at 1700, 1800 rpm.

in other words, granny shift 1st - 2nd

Ok, so 2-3 and 3-4 shifts are ok to go wot under?..... when racing, do you guys manually shift?....... Also please maybe indicate how long you've been boosted(mileage) with ur tranny.....

BTW.. I'm running the 3.125 on the v1

IMO, 2-3, 3-4 shifting is much stronger than 1-2. should be better for boosting (but it can still break) I havent race anybody from dead stop after the SC was isntalled. I dont recommand manual shifting auto though. I have 4000 miles on my boosted tranny and the SC was installed in mid-Oct.

I am not sure what's the rpm for 3.125. prolly 2000 or 2100.

have fun~

someone has had jeff's stage 3 and i think that he had to manually shift 1st and 2nd becuase he was afraid that he was going to blow his motor mounts.
