Sh*T! I still have to grind with a 3.33" Pulley on a V2

*&$%# misleading info! I don't want to take it all off again. Took me 8 hours to put it all in only to find that the belt is rubbing! So I have to Dremel in 2 locations? Top oneI can reach but how about the bottom one?

Your belt is rubbing on a 3.33 pulley? Weird, I've got a 3.33 and there was no grinding needed and it doesn't rub.

Man I just got sick of grinding and it did no good on my 3.125 that I essentially just cut off the center peg that goes on the center of the back of the supercharger.

No problems now

I took a file to it and shaved it until the thumping noise disappeared. Now my next problem to fix is the alignment. I just hope I don't have to tear it down again for the 3rd time.

This is my concern too. This whole "ALIGNMENT" issue. I mean is it on all cars, or just 4th gens, or just V1 s/c?

And this whole thing about moving out the s/c by what was it like 2mm or something? Well that means you got to put a washer between all the bolts on the timing cover and the engine mount bolts right?

Mine's a V2. This problem seems to be on 4th gens with the V1/V2 blowers.

I may have put the washers in the wrong spots on the blower-to-mounting plate posts (#8, #10 and #12). I'll have to look over it very carefully before I tear it apart and locate where the alignment problem is.

I think your mounting bracket might be the same as the 4th gens?

Removed the supercharger again last night....albeit in a little shorter time than before, thanks to more experience....

Although I bought a fancy Dremel from Home Depot last night I'm going to return it. I used my big honking file on that bracket instead.

Now to decide where to put those 3 flat washers...

Strange. I have a Gen 1 V1, and no problems with alignment -

I did have a problem with it when I first installed the SC, but then realized my idler pulley was a little crooked, and made the belt come misaligned - re-did the idler pulley, and it's been super happy ever since.

Well, the supercharger is back in again! I've filed down the two posts a bit more and that helped gain more clearance. Spent only 4 hours last night from remounting the blower to the mounting plate to tightening the intake pipe mounting bolts.
I'll be posting some pics I took along the way shortly.

Damn I keep hearing how Kev can change the pulley off the blower and put it back on in less than one hour.

Im still having trouble trying to figure out how he doing that. I spend over 30mins just trying to get the damn oil drain back hose on the oil drain back plate. And then I cant even tighten the hose clamp on that hose. Im just going to get a spring loaded clamp for that one.

But still 1hr, shiet..........

Hearing that just blows me away! I wonder how he handles that hex bolt next to the idler pulley quickly with a Allen key?

Did you read my other thread?

The idea of a spring loaded clamp is pretty good. I should have first connected the oil drain back hose to both the bottom of the blower and the pipe before bolting the mounting plate/blower to the side of the engine.

Man I could not get that allen bolt at all. It just would not go in. I did it from the bottom. Still couldnt get it in.

Also the other question I got is that one bolt for the idler pulley. That is a B@TCH to get on. I actually had to have my brother kinda grab the engine and sort of shake and move it so I could get the bolt to just get in. There wasnt enough room to get it to angle in.

All this is just what kills me. And then someone keeps mentioning that one 60mm bolt does not need to be connected. I still dont know how to even tighen then two bolts that connect to the standoff. Just no room for half this crap.

I just attached the two bolts by the pulley to the engine block but I screwed them in half way. Then I did the hex bolt next. I had to use my extension bar for the ratchet to jiggle the mounting plate so that I could get that hex bolt in straight. This was while lying on my back. I just hand screwed it in and then finished it with my allen key duct-taped to a screwdriver.

I had the bolt in the idler pulley but not all the way through. I angled the pulley from below and the bolt would sort of hold the pulley against the side of the frame. Then from the top I slowly hand tightened it. I then used my 19mm open end wrench to slowly finish it.

I don't have the #18 bolt at all right now. I think the mechanic who initially installed my kit left it out. Thats the only bolt I've left out.

To get to the idler pulley, just jack the car up, take the tire off, take off the fender panel, and it's right there - easy to get it.

OOPS! I missed reading about the pulley! I thought you meant the blower.
