What pulley do you guys recommend for me? 3.125, 3.33, custom 3.25, ect. Need SC help

Well, Jon aka CoOlKids ordered some parts from $tealin' that should arrive at his door anyday, and when they do, he is shipping his V1 Supercharger kit COD to me right away. I am soo excited. It comes with a Walbro fuel pump, Blitz BOV, 3.6, 3.33, 3.125, and 2.87 pullies, and new piping just to name a few goodies. I have talked to several people about it including lots of talks with coolkids and am in a bind here. I heard with the 3.125 pulley and 5spd you can kiss 1st gear goodbye - It becomes completely useless. On the other hand, I've also heard that boost doesn't even kick in till mid 2k's with the 3.125, so I wouldn't feel much power in first gear. I have no idea what I should do. I don't want the car to be out of control, but I want lots of power. Should I get a shop to custom fab me a 3.25 pulley? I need all the help I can get on this subject!

Why would you need a custom 3.25? I thought Vortech had them.

Agreed, until you get the kit on and have put a few k miles on it to be sure every thing is working ok do the 3.33. After you are comfortable drop down to the 3.125. You can ease out of first gear and manage it, its not that bad

I just got my v2 installed 2 weeks ago.. I def think you should do the 3.33.. Thats's what I have. Just brake it in slowly and make ure your tranny can handle that extra power.

Kevish: 2.87 is a NO NO!

Shadow: Vortech does have them?? Oh. I was told it had to be custom made.

Mardigras, Confused: The blower has 50,000 miles on it...not sure if you were talking about breaking it in, or just me getting used to everything...but with the 3.33, I won't even be boosting till like 3300rpms right? So on the highway when cruising @70mph in 5th or even 4th I would barely have any added HP, correct? Boost kickin in at 2000 (3.125) versus 3300 (3.33) is a big difference. What do you guys think

PCguru2k Well, the V2 makes more boost then the V1 with equal pullies..so a 3.125 on my V1 would be 9-10psi whereas the 3.125 on a V2 would be 10-12 psi, correct?

Synki: I was sooo close to getting the Z28, but it had it's share of needed repairs and then my entire family offered me a free supercharger as an early x-mas present if I kept the Maxima. Well that's the most generous offer i've ever gotten in my life and I couldn't pass it up! Besides, the Z would cost $108 more a month in insurence and would eat up a little more gas as well. I also love the way the Maxima drives...compared to cars like camaro's and cobra's it drives like a dream.

Boost doesn't kick in at 2000 rpms with the 3.125 pulley, it kicks in at about 3000 rpms.

If hes a 5 speed his good. I think you should go 3.25 or 3.125, why do labor twice. Do it once and get it over with. Tune it from there and make it run 13s.

wtf?? Man....so why would I be spinning all throughout first? I'm definatally doing the 3.125 now....

Guys, I just got a resonator and put back on my cai (had hybrid in) and DAMN! The cai sounds sooo good...I forgot how awesome it sounds. (my exhaust is tame now and I can once again hear the engine roar) Will a supercharger sound better/more exotic then just a pr cai? coolkids is giving me a custom cai too so what will the setup soundlike? Anybody got WOT runs with their v1?

Thanks guys.

Jay, I'll reply to your PM in a little bit bro.

With a V1, let me put it to you this way, if your going into a parking lot full of cars everyone is going to know your coming when they hear that thing whining. I have a V2 and when I go to this place Barrettparkway I get looked at most of the times and my V2 is suppose to be more quiet then your future V1. You wanted attention your gonna get attention. It sounds real good. Delio had one he can vouch for that.

What does the whine sound like, the way people talk about it it almost sounds like it would be a belt slipping kind of sound... am I way off on this?

A belt slipping is a totally different noise, V1 noise is different. It sounds good but cant describe it. You need to listen to it on a Video. Matt (Mardigrasmax has one when he ran a 13.3 @110 you can listen to it when he pulls up

http://www.vqpower.com/v2/modules.ph...op=getit&lid=2

cliky on that turn up the volume and thats how a V1 sounds like. Enjoy

Stay with low boost till your sure its all working ok. ex;If your FPR isnt working right and your running a 3.125 you will do allot more damage then if you are running the 3.33. Safe is allways better than sorry, it takes more up front work to be safe, but allot more after the fact work if you end up being sorry.

Or WTF 2.62 and a 150 shot, whats the worst that could happen

I've had that Mardi video for a looong time. It's hard to tell becuase that other maxima is modded too...I couldn't really hear much except something that sounded like a cai.

What about accelerating? I know my CAI under wot sounds incredible past 3000rpm...I mean it sounds almost like a nascar. I am in love with it...will the s/c be a dissapointment sound wise converting from the cai? I heard the s/c just gets real quiet when accelerating.

Mardi, I'm not going to be the one installing it. A guy at Nissan who has his own car club is hooking me up with the guy who does the forced induction work for them, so I will probubly run the 3.125 off the bat since he is a pro. Hell, you can't go wrong with a guy who goes by the name, "Turbo Tom".

I dunno, "Turbo Tom" installing a Supercharger???

I hear ya, just be sure its all good before you start pushing the car hard. Check the plugs, EGT's etc. often.

I would say to start with 3.125. I have 3.33 and now I am hungry for more power. I choose it because I was afraid that my auto tranny will not be able to handle the power of small pulleys.

I still have Kevin's 2.87 sitting on my desk....hmmmmm

Gotcha. Thx.

BTW, any of you fella's happen to have any soundclips of your V1 going WOT, from inside or outside the car? Cars can sound different revving and while under torque.
