aftermarket knock sensor?

I have yet to do my research on this.. but i hear, much better than A/f, egt, etc is to get like a MSD knock sensor setup (300-400ish range from what i'm told) that detects the least detonation that we can't even hear, and automatically retards the timing..

anyone have any input?
