Turboing an Automatic 5th Gen Maxima

I have a couple of questions for hlh501 or anyone else who knows about turboing a car about getting my 2K GXE Turbocharged. I know I'll need to bulletproof my tranny for the upgrade but need to ask if it is even possible that you would be able to get it to fit in the engine compartment. Please reply if anyone knows about it. Also any turbo maxima's that are Automatics please reply to the thread. Thanks

hi, it is most definately possible and we would gladly do it for you... it is only slightly different from a manual maxima setup. I will have one (5th gen auto) finished here very shortly , feel free to contact me via email or aim hlh0501.

Performance Factory offered to do it for $4300, using a T3/T4 turbo, no intercooler. I dunno if it's be reliable.
And there is one org member that has a turbo auto 5thgen.. He hardly posts but he's in NYC..

Was your car the one that was posted with pics back in the day as the first 5th gen turboed? I know there was one and cant put the name on it. Wish I could see those pics again.

Shouldnt need a Level10, plus i dont endore Level10. If you stay easy on it and dont slam the hell out of it, it should be fine.

Worst case, if it does smoke up, I will get a custom tranny, posi traction, changed gear ratios, new torque convertor, the works for much better price.

So what happened? Dont go into drive or any gears? Just snapped this morning? During a sprinted run? Damn that sucks.......

It blew this morning after I got off a toll bridge. I gave it some gas and shot out of the booth. Then I start slipping like crazy. And I hear a bang.. Then I just lost 3rd and 4th.. I was driving to work this morning on 2nd gr. At 50-60mph 5Krpm. Yeah I know that's bad, but I was running late to work. When I go home I'm just flashing the hazards and running at like 40..

Damn that is going to suck, rebuild going to cost about 2000+. I know someone who just had their 4th gen rebuild from a s/c they put in not more than 1week on the car and blew the tranny. Cost him $2800 for the rebuild. Jesus.

Level 10's tranny will never hold near that much.

Have you thought about swapping in a 5-spd manual tranny? If it was going to cost me $2000+ to rebuild the automatic, I'd just replace it with a 5-spd.

Only pain in the azz is getting the console parts, shift assembly, clutch pedal, all that crap. How are you going about getting this all so it can be seemlessly installed? Is the shop going to order all the parts required? I know Kev had to get two new drive axels.
