Engine life with turbocharging?

I was wondering, how long roughly do you think a VQ would last running 8psi boost?

My friend said 1 year, i was like no way it could only last that long. I would like to turbocharge my maxima but want it as a daily driver. Do any of you guys have any info on engine life?

VQ is one of the strongest engines around.. It'll last a good while. I mean if your not boosting constantly on a daily basis your motor should hold for a while. Longer then a yr for sure.

Many factors go into this. If it is kept in good tune with regular service. I bet 150k easy, I'm at 50k and my copmression is great! I am shooting for 100k, but I run allot more boost.

It's a good engine, but doesn't compare to the Supra engine, which can handle upwards of 900 hp on stock internals.

Engine life is directly porportional to how you take care of it and how you drive it. Especially so w/ engines that are boosted(when not originally so)

So you can't say an engine will last xxxx miles with xx boost. Not really a valid question.

Let's say you have 2 maximas that can run w/ 20psi boost.
1 guy boosts it to 20psi at every light and never changes the oil.
2nd guy only boosts it to 20psi once every 2 days, changes his oil and watches his plugs etc.....

Which do you think is gonna live longer?

Okay, I wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything. I'm just amazed at how much power Supras can put out.

Speaking of lawnmowers, mine is a Honda. When is Nissan going to produce a VQ0.1 so I can maintain brand loyalty?

With proper tuning and care your prob looking at around 100,000 miles of engine life, From the point where you put it on asuming the engine is in good shape and ont' have to many miles on it IE under 40k.
