Am I running lean?
Am I running lean?
This past Saturday I took the car out for a high speed run in 4th gear to check EGT. I have been monitoring the EGT and up till now I have been seeing about 1450F and about 85 psi fuel pressure when I hit redline in 3rd gear, at about 9 psi boost.
I have the V1 blower with a 3.25" pulley, and I have an 8:1 disk in the fmu, and a Walbro fuel pump.
Saturday was the first extended boosted run in 4th gear. I don't know how fast I was going (pretty durn fast) because I had my eye on the EGT gauge, but I shut it down at 1500F. Is it normal for the EGT to continue to rise, or should it reach a maximum and stay there? What is a safe maximum EGT?

safe max EGT is 800c...about 1500F.
do you have full cat back and y? if you dont, the EGT reading is not accurate. I have gone up to 850 after racing an Accord coupe and that thing just kept shooting up to 875C (1600F) even I let go of the pedal. I think it is the restrictive cat-back holding up my exhaust gas.
I know Kevin's 2.87 with 8:1 peaked at 680 EGT during dyno. (rich)

Did you have your EGT guage when you were NA? Readings can vary a lot based on sensor position, which bank, and from car to car.
I can get to 1500F NA in a 1/4 mile in my car. So, I wouldn't be alarmed at 1500F boosted.
(FYI 800C = 1472F)

At the time of the run, I had a warpspeed y-pipe and HKS exhaust, but I had the stock cat and b-pipe installed. I've never seen the EGT keep climbing after shutting down.
So 1500F is okay? It would be interesting to see how far it would keep going, but I was starting to run out of road by that time.
ejj: Yes, I had the EGT gauge on when I was NA, the highest EGT I ever saw was about 1450F at redline in 3rd, so it's behaving pretty much the same now as when it was NA, as far as EGT at the end of a quarter mile run is concerned.
