Say your belt shredded in the middle of a desert

and you have no tools to remove the SC...

can you put on a standard nissan drive belt without going thru the idler/SC pulley?

I am thinking about taking my car for a long trip later on this year and I dont want to change any SC belt if it's shredded. Instead, I want a temp belt to turn my alternator so I can finish my trip. Is this possible??

yes, matt did it successfully when his blower was out for service.

you may also want to pull the fmu vacuum line (plug or replacement tee with one less branch). probably not a bad idea to pull and plug the oil feed. oh, and make sure you have SOME tools for the job, you will need to be able to tighten the belt..

Remember, no boosting after~!

I thought Matt took it out of the car first and then put a belt back on. so it is possible to have the short belt running with the blower still attached to the car?

for my trip...I just want to bring a short belt and a 14mm socket with extension and wrench. Oh~ plus all other tools to remove the plastic covers.

When I installed my V1 I took a good look at where the idler pulleys were and came to the conclusion that you should be able to run the stock belt no problemo. I keep the stock belt and some tools in my trunk to do an emergency belt replacement if I ever need to.

doesnt boost hit at like 3000 rpm? If so, how is it possible to drive around w/out hitting boost in the event that the belt shredded and following procedure had to be done?

SC is powered by belt, no belt, no SC spinning, and no boost I am trying to use stock belt with the SC still attach on car and the stock belt will no go thru SC pulley.

Honestly, I'd say drive with the s/c for a bit, and if you notice nothing out of the ordinary just stick to it : it's not worth the hassle! You don't need to worry about making long trips and the such.. I doubt you'll go through another belt now that you have the "good" pulley on

No high rpm's at all, remember, you'll be running straight off battery juice. After that runs out, you're ****ed. So a good option is to join AAA

AAA only takes me up to 100 miles....just say I am in Neveda and all my tools are in San Francisco. Plus, I doubt there are many mechanic can put the SC belt back in there. Even they do...I wouldnt trust them and they might just use powertool on everything. I want to strap a belt on just to get the alternator spinning so the car is not running on battery.

Jer - I jsut figured out....the pulley is not the problem. Man! now I am guilty for making those comments about vortech. The problem is just like Jay25 described. I need to add washers between the plate and blower.

You should ask Kev for an install warranty
