3" Exhaust systems...

Sup fellas...

What 3" exhaust systems are available for 5th gens? How many turbo guys have actually gone w/a 3" catback? I was disappointed to find out that GReddy dosnt sell a 3" kit for the Maxima. Are there any other 3" systems out there or am I going to have to go custom?
I will be selling my 2.5" Greddy evo system once I've decided on a new catback... I have a Cattman cali-spec y-pipe for sale too. Suggestions would be great.... BTW the turbo install was completed today!!!

Re: 3" Exhaust systems...

Honestly.. you should just get a custom job. A decent shop will quote you no more than a typical HKS or Greddy or whatever, and you can choose which components you want to use too...

Personally I'm still on a 2.5", but it cost me several bucks less than a comparable "brand name" system..

I'm 2.5" mandrel bent with carsound cat, dynomax ultraflo straight through "muffler", and a 3" magnaflow resonator.

Kev you think I should hack up my GReddy muffler and just weld a 3" exhaust to it or sell the whole thing and start from scratch? I love my GReddy man... Seems like it would work. Dont what to have to buy a new muffler. I'd end up spending a bunch of money just to get something nice-n-shiny that looks similar to the greddy.

I like the look of the GReddy rice can too.

Don't go hacking up the GReddy because it's still going to be 2.5" all the way through. We have to find something larger, like from a Supra or something.

What I suggest is get a custom 3" cat-back made, then sell the GReddy to offset some of the cost. I know a local shop that will do the custom 3" stainless steel (mandrel bend) cat-back, but I haven't had a chance to drop off the car yet.

you said it, some one has to make 3" inch exhaust for a supra just get that can. I like that greddy you had or still have on your car. Baggs has one that looked similar to it except is bigger

I've seen imitation GReddy mufflers at nice prices.

Kirk doesn't have to worry because his is 3" already!

I may have deal on an Apexi WS Catback, but if I want to go turbo eventually, Will I not be able to use this exhaust? Will the engine still choke?

Thanks,
JP

If you truly want to go turbo, then dont bother buying it, you really want a 3" exhaust, if you are 5th gen, it is going to be tough to get a 3" installed unless the shop is really good and does a mean mandrel bending/welding job.

The shop that did my turbo install is great at gustom piping. They told me however that getting a 3' catback, will create more turbo lag?!? Can anyone else comment on this?

yes a three foot catback is too big.

but a three inch one should be perfect... turbos needs as little back pressure as possible.

I don't think they know what they're talking about... unless they're thinking of the turbine feed piping... then again, if they're thinking of that, they don't know what they're doing.
