Hi Sprinty!
Thanks a lot for the compliements. I cannot take all the credit though. Bill at PFI has helped out tremendously! He has a good attitude and always tries his best. When I give feedback from customers about the kit, he is always receptive and will make appropriate changes to accommodate.
Thanks again!

both kits have problems. However with the exception of Joa.. Nigel has made the other customers feel better enough not to have to post about it. As i said to you before Joa.. i went to **** 3 times as worse than you did, however what kept me from posting was Nigel's GREAT ATTITUDE (keep that word close boys and girls). Nigel always had a great attitude with me and not once did he deny helping me. Nigel always wanted to call me to talk to me personally to calm me down, Nigel offered to take time away from work and family to come and help me with the install.. Nigel was ALWAYS THERE..
Kev's stuff was messed up, nigel polished his blower without kev even asking for it done.
My stuff was messed up, Nigel powdercoated and treated my exhaust pipes black without me even asking.
If one part was every missing, as soon as i told nigel, it was on its way out. Even when Nigel was away on Business, he still answered my emails.
That being said.. the little word called attitude...

Interesting read...
Moderators do not always express the same opinion. Just because a few of us have the same opinion does not mean we are "ganging up" on someone. Moderators are not scapegoats.
Sprinty..... I'm touched. *tear falling from eye*

Originally posted by mzmtgLike I said before , for this kind of money, there should be no issues. It has nothing to do with who makes it, who sells it, or what kind of car it goes on. There should be no compromises.
I dissagree.
Unless you can show an example of a 4 grand turbo kit (let's forget about it being flawless) for "no matter what kind of car" how can you justify the price as being fair for the quality of the product that you get? Yes, 4 grand may be a lot of money, but some people spend 2 and 3 times that amount for their setups. And I will guess and say that there are some that are not perfect that cost far more than 4 grand.
I feel the kind of car does make a huge difference.
Fact is, these are the only turbo setups being fabricated and sold for our cars, they are in direct competition to each other and after reading this thread it looks like there are NO flawless 4 grand turbo setups for the maxima, actually.. there are no flawless turbo kits for the maxima at all.

I was/am well aware of cheaper turbo kits for other cars.
My point was that there are none, "flawless" 4 grand kits for the maxima.

while there may be cheaper alternatives for Miatas, Civics, Mustangs.. etc.. there are none for the maxima. If anyone (not calling names because it isn't directed at anyone in particular) feels that an affordable, well fitting, excellent quality and flawless turbo kit can be made for our cars, they should really look into making it happen. And please don't take this the wrong way, because I do not mean that in an offensive way at all. I applaud both Hal and Nigel for their efforts in making what they have. I'd think that had they known of these potentially serious issues ahead of time, they'd put more effort into making their work more refined, or at least I'd hope so. I can also understand where the people who did get their kits and had issues are coming from and I don't think it's wrong for them to be upset or just be uphappy with their problems. All I am saying is, there are no cheaper alternatives for the maxima. For 4k, you don't know what to expect. So little people have these kits, you are taking some kind of a risk buying these kits.. But it is just silly to completely assume that the setup will be perfect..
Ok here's my opinion on this entire ordeal. At frist I didn't know there were such problems.
At any rate, I think everyone should stop and at least be pleased that some people have come up to bat to make these turbo kits. From the outside it does definitely appears Nigel/PFI is more business like and is probably more profitable. Hal does not seem to be as much. However, I can't really imagine Hal doing it for close to free. He has to have enough to cover all the extra cell phone calls, the overnight shipping he always has to incur, etc. On the other hand, I give both Nigel and Hal extreme credit for doing whatever is in their power to get things resolved. I used to build computers for friends for no profit, nothing would be more frustrating then supporting a computer you made no money on; so if the profit isn't there like Hal says I really feel for him.
I personally believe both parties are making decent money on these. I haven't fully examined the parts prices, but since the consumer isn't paying for R&D since it's already done, the parts alone just don't seem like they'd be $4,000, but like I said I haven't examined it thoroughly. At any rate, all that aside, it sounds like both parties are doing what is necessary to tend to their customers, and the finger pointing is pretty ugly. Everyone is an early adopter and just needs to understand that.
Sprintmax in another forum stated something along the lines of: These kits need not to be treated as kits but as starting kits of a turbo kit. Thus, when you buy one know you're getting the key components but that customization and modifications will have to be made. I think it should be left at that.
On another note, Greddy does not spend all that much on R&D. My friend was the R&D pig for the Integra GSR, they had his car for 5 days and that was it, he came back once for an adjustment, and then they started selling the kit. Literally the kit was on sale two weeks after my friend's car left Greddy. Two guys worked on it, with normal tools. Those guys are just better at doing it I guess. It really wasn't a massive engineering feat, it was just a logical, economical design with close attention to detail. I bet Greddy spent the same in R&D (without the salary the workers were on) then these two had spent.

Well you know what I mean. The people who have the kits installed and spent their own money can best explain/complain or give feedback. Everyone else are just spectators. What you should get is some CUSTOMERS to speak up.

well i got time, how about a break down
wow you are a genious arn't you. Obviously he is not going to give attitude to people who's money he has, are you really that dense? if you read the thread correctly and had some level of comprehension, you would have learned I said that Hal's attitude changed. i like how you put "SMALL" in quotations. They were "SMALL" enough to polish your blower and powdercote your pipes.
no one said he was a bad business man
no ****.. i have an attitude, but it never changes, its always the same. I was as assshole before i was a moderator, and i am an assshole now. I will be an assshole driving a maxima and an assshole driving a bmw. What you fail to comprehend is that he has CHANGED. Did you get that? CHANGED. He wasn't an assshole BEFORE, but he is an assshole NOW. Can you understand that? or shall i break it down for you more? If you havn't seen him direct his aggression out of nothing to me, then you need to read and educate yourself more before you come at me with ignorance.
you seen it? no one else has, so thats proof to YOU, not to US. Get that through your THICK SKULL.

And also after reading this entire thread for an hour, I've come to the conclusion that Hal goes on the defensive when being attacked, which you cannot blame him for, any normal human being would do this. If I told you your car was ugly and slow, would you not become defensive and fight back? That is not attitude.

With the SMALL amount of problems I've had so far, Hal has polished my turbo, and ALSO powdercoated my pipes blue for me for FREE without me asking, so same on both sides.

Sprint I've been reading posts on maxima.org for about 9-10 months now, and of all people to tell someone that they have an attitude problem you are the ABSOLUTE LAST person on this forum to be telling anyone about an attitude problem. In at least 50% of the posts I've read from all over the place on maxima.org you come across as the biggest a$$ hole I've ever seen on an online forum, and for absolutely no reason. Someone will ask a legitimate question and you will come post some smartassed remark for no reason. So if anyone is going to tell someone else they have an attitude problem, it should be other people telling you. I don't know if its because you're a moderator or what. I bet if you ran an anonymous poll with the topic of "Is Sprint an a$$ hole in general when posting?" you would probably get a decent amount of people saying yes. And how other moderators back you up and commend you on what you've said absolutely stuns me. In this thread for example you completely cuss Hal out although he has directed no aggression towards you in any way. Not only that but other moderators also threaten to ban Hal because they feel that he is selling crap, although they don't have a kit themselves. If I've offended you by saying this then I'm sorry, but it's the truth whether you like it or not.

By the way, Hal has plenty proof that he's running 13's and better. I've seen the video's on his computer, and it's his decision not to share them with the public, and that's his right.

My Summary Sprint, you need to tone down YOUR attitude... You are a moderator and set an example. If everyone here acted like you do all the time, it wouldn't be a very pleasant place to be now would it.

i like how you put "SMALL" in quotations. They were "SMALL" enough to polish your blower and powdercote your pipes.
no one said he was a bad business man

The same can be said about a turbo... look at kev's setup.. By far the BEST I have seen ( from the pics ), in ANY car with an aftermarket turbo.
After reading this drasically long thread, ill just say that it pi$$es me off. I have personally seen Harolds kit and it looks good to me. The Maxima wasnt meant from the factory to have a turbo, so there is no way to have a "bolt on" kit. Like Harold said we dont have the finances like Greddy to make a more user friendly install kit. Harold knows what he is talking about, and I think its bullcrap how you guys are badmouthing his turbo kit. I dont see you all out spending the time to develop these kits. Im sure that Harold will do everything to fix the kit, obviously Baggs opted not to drive to Harold and have the kit installed by him where Hal could solve the problems on the spot. This is prolly the first maxima turbo the shop has installed, so it will be a little difficult for them to do the first time. Around me Hal has been nothing but professional and very helpful even tho Ive never bought anything from him. None of you have the right to badmouth his kit when only a few have actually have seen it. Mzmtg, if you hate Hal's kit so much, why dont you devote alot of time to developing your own kit. You are going to run into problems boosting any N/A car, but thats what you expect when you get into it. Hal's kit is great, this is the first complaint he has had, and I dont see what the deal is if he does all he can to fix it. This thread disgusts me!

Just two things....
1) not trying to be an A$$, just trying to set the record straight
2) The shop that did my install, did hals.
