Bend spark plug.....
Bend spark plug.....
Ok I am having this idle problem for a while. Right after boosting today. I loose power and the car is not running right. I pull over and there is oil all over the right side of the engine compartment (battery side). I pull the plugs anf 2 on the plugs on the front side are bent shut. There is no gap at all (something has hit them).
Thomas (aka sx7r) and I think it's the valves and the oil was forced past the valve seats and sprayed by the valve cover breather vent.
Side note: I pulled the plugs about a week or 2 ago and had the same problem, but thought that I was just a dumba$$ and dropped the plug when I put them in to the head. Maybe NOT.
Could this be what is happening?
What would cause this to happen?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

holy~.....sorry to hear that..
do you have EGT or fuel pressure gauge to monitor the car?
if you do, what's the reading on the EGT or fuel pressure?
when you said that your spark plugs were really dark in the other thread...I thought it could be oil on it. Have you done a compression test?

The SES light did start flashing when this happened and then it stayed on. I will try to get it checked today.
I will be doing the compression check tonight and post then.
Woah, 850-900C is WAY too high. I've only seen that in Turtle95Max's car when he had a blown motor (he had idling problems also).
Something is definitely wrong if the plugs are being degapped by the piston.
I can't offer any advice than to take the car and have it looked over by a professional.

you are running 8:1 FMU and 3.33, right? 100psi of fuel shouldnt make your car run lean, but it is kinda high....unless the fuel injectors are maxed-out?

At full boost for a couple seconds then it comes down to around 500 and then at 300 or less at idle.
I am running a 8:1 and 3.125 with a CAI and 1 step colder plugs. The prob is about 4-5 inches from the top of the back section of the Y-pipe.
I have been hearing a ticking sound for about 2 months now...I thought it might be the SC. Maybe I have been wrong in assuming that.
Thomas, Great then we will to the compression check around 7 pm.

hmmmm.....it never raise the EGT that high when I redline it. I have 2.87 and ajusted the BOV to have a 10psi boost....I locate the probe on the y pipe too.....and I lower the warning limit to 750 instead of 800 because you might get some cooling effect if the probe is located on the ypipe, so you are acutally reading lower over there.
your fuel pressure sounds right...
where does the ticking noise coming from?

This happened to somebody else, but I couldn't find the thread. By all means do a compression check as soon as you can.
That's very similar to what happened to my max. I have the same kinda upgrades that Latinmax has and the reason why it was happening to me was cuz my aux. fuel pump was never installed correctly from the start. I have been running lean ever since we installed the charger. We put like 6500 miles without the aux. pump and that's why my #6 cylinder just gave up. I had no gap in my plug when I checked it, meaning that the engine was super hot. We found out what was wrong with our max when Kev was dyno tuning maxi-overdoses' car, and the same thing was happening to him. They found out what it was and found out how to fix it, and since we were there at the dyno shop with them, we did the same. We have never heard the pump turn on like that until that day. Thanx again Kev. That pump is loud. But anyways, if u have been hearing those sounds for 2 months, I would take it somewhere to get it checked cuz that right there doesn't sound too good. 2 months? Wow. Mine was clicking also, but when we heard that, we didn;t drive the car cuz we knew something was wrong. We only let it click for about 15 seconds. It didn't sound healthy when it did that so we didn't want to drive it until we figured out what it was. U should get new plugs and make sure that your aux. fuel pump is working. U should hear a loud buzzin' sound coming from the pump as soon as u turn the ignition on. Let us know what happens....

Hey AC and Frankie: we both have about the same amount of boost and exact same problems. Have you guys wondered why your car was still able to put 250 whp with the aux pump off? maybe stronger stock pump?
btw, LatinMax has walbor(sp?) 255hp pump in tank.

Hey Kev the server won't let me in...so I had to make a 2nd me.
I have a walbro installed in the tank, so I don't know what the problem is. All I know is it might be too late.
Sr7x and I did a compression check last noght and it was bad.
cyl 1,3,5 220
cyl 2,6 100
cyl 4 0
I am pulling everything off and tring to see if the extended warr will cover.....I am praying for that.

We were able to get 275 fwhp with just the stock pump and we had an exhaust system, 3.125 pulley and test pipe. Once we got the y-pipe, the car began to feel differently. The y-pipe made the difference. I'm guessing that we can maybe use the supercharger with a 3.6 pulley and use just the stock pump. It could probably work out that way cuz I have been driving like that ever since we installed the kit and we had no problems. It was when we upgraded the pulley and installed the y-pipe that we began to feel the struggling. I guess our stock pump flows pretty well. As for Latinmax, I'm sorry about your ride, man. Hopefully things get better.

sorry to hear that man. I thought it might be the rear bank because your EGT probe is located right after the front bank and thus the rear is not be monitored.hope the warranty will cover it.
