80 psi fuel pressure...at idle!

hi all.....I was boosting from 10mph rolling for 2 times and then I got back home and parked my car on driveway. I torque-braked the car a little to see if the tranny is able to hold. Then I noticed that the fuel pressure was at 80psi! I already let go the pedal and the gear was in P.

what made this fp so high at idle? 80psi is like what I get @ 6 - 7 psi of boost. I have no idea why the idle fp was so high.

I turned the car off and turned it back on then it was ok....dropped back down to 39psi.

thx for your help~

Only thing I can think of is if somehow the boost was still in the FMU and didnt get released. Dont know why this would happen.

Or second thing I just thought about, maybe the FMU is going bad. There is a spring in there that should bring the disc back up, if it is going bad, the shaft the "button" comes up on might be corroded or jammed and it just jarred itself loose again after you turned the car off.

Very wierd.

I think this is very possible. You might try removing the cover and squirting a little light lubricant around the shaft.

thx guys for the help.

Dixit and Stephen : it stayed 80 psi forever. I checked the fuel pump and fuel hose line and found the line is extremely hard. can't really tell the differences on the pump because it is always on.

Confused : I have Defi D-gauge. an electronic fp gauge.

hmmm...it just happened again this past weekend. I boosted from 2nd-3rd-4th and it went up to 11psi. after I let go off the pedal and FP got stuck at 60 psi. It is still responsive to tapping the gas pedal and I boost it again to 6psi and FP went up to 80. seems like FMU is ok becuas 80 psi of fuel is what I usually get at 6psi of boost. when back home and turn the car off and then turned it back on...it idles at 39psi again.

can it be the FPR?

or the fuel pump?

I still think it might be the FMU or maybe the FPR. Cant be the fuel pump since it kicking at all times. Maybe the FMU or FPR is getting jammed after you let go of boost

thx dixit...the reason that I put the fuel pump into this is that everytime I turned off the car and turned it back on and everything is ok.

or maybe my fuel pressure guage is bad. hmmmm

I have seen this problem, but I had a check engine light. It was so long ago that I can't remember what the code was. It happened about 2 weeks after I installed the turbo. I reset the ECU and it never came back again! Weird ... I can't explain it! The Fuel pressure gauge was working fine!
