V2's have pulley problems because of the bracket assembly/idler pulley. V1's come with all that stuff the way it should be (ie, metal), so if you're thinking of upgrading a V1 to a V2, all your pulley assembly stuff should remain the same.
iansw is just in the process of swapping his V1 for a V2, he got $1000 off the price of the V2 ($1950 I think, so essentially $950 to replace it), and the only real *fix* he has to do for it is turning the snail-assembly 180 degrees. I don't know the details on that though since I've never heard about it until now.

V1 bracket - no pulley problems
V2 blower - 1 more PSI of boost, quieter.

Some have said the V2 blower itself is less reliable, but I don't really buy that. there's about 10x more people with V2's. In my view, the actual failure percentage is probably about the same. The only physical difference between the blowers is the gears themselves. 90% of the problems people have with the SC's themselves is bearings or oil seals. Those are the same on both blowers.
Of course, my blower has been bad since I bought it, and i spent a year chasing down a vacuum/boost leak that simply turned out to be a bad blower. So the $950 is worth it to me just to be rid of the problem.
The total cost is actually more like $850 if you get a Class A trade-in ($1850 -$1000 credit) - but I decided to go all bling with it - so i got the polished blower for $100 more.

They're all V-2 SQ superchargers, but the trims are different, ie S-trim, SC-trim, or E-trim. It appears the S and SC share the same housing, but the E-trim has a larger inlet and inducer, so that's probably why they won't trade it.
Just a thought, since guys running 12-13psi with the 2.6x pulley were exceeding the 50K efficient max rpm.
The larger air inlet and inducer would flow more air plus have less restriction on the top end and be more efficient.

Annnnnnnnyways,
I went to the shop today. The blower was opened and everything is in great mechanical condition. Just about zero wear and tear. Just goes to show how well Eaton builds their blowers.
We are removing the right side fan becuase of clearence issues. The only problem this will cause is the a/c will get a little hotter at idle. (big deal) We thought about running a small aftermarket fan in front of the radiator, but it would get in the way of a future intercooler, so I'm just going to run with one fan. We are mounting the blower using the threads in the transmission, theres like 6 threads, so we will build the mounting bracket around that. There is also a bolt on the right front far end of the engine block that we will secure the blower to as well to prevent the blower from rocking. The threads in the tranny are very conveniently located and are a big help. Battery is going in the trunk in a sealed box. We are going to cut about 1/2 inch chunk of metal where thread holes are on the side of the blower that faces towards the fan for clearence reasons. This won't effect anything since it wouldn't be used for mounting anyways. We will probably run a CAI into the hole where my n/a CAI went.
This whole thing is probably going to take longer than expected do to all the thought going into it. But I can safety say now that it IS going to happen, 100%. It should look like a clean install too. Budget is not going to exceed $2500 either, if it even gets that high, according to Tom. Right now we are shooting to keep it at/around $2000.

Nope. I'm keeping some minor parts of the kit, like a few hoses and bolts and what not, but i'll be selling the compressor, vortech pump, bracket, pulley, belt, CAI, ect. I'm keeping the Vortech FMU. It's all off, I just gotta organize it and put it up for sale. It will be selling for pretty cheap.

I thought it was because he has 2 pusher fans. Pushers aren't as efficient as puller fans. And since the fans aren't shrouded, they're not as efficient either. The factory fans are more efficient than most aftermarket fans unless you get into the expensive FAL fans and such.

Mounting bracket/housing has been made, and fitted for the blower to mount to the transmission. He took a ton of measurements yesterday and sent the pulley/shaft away to get machined/cut. We are going to have to remove the drivers side fan. The wiper washer reservior is being relocated so that we can run a CAI. Piping will be mandrel and painted red. I thought about painting the housing red, but instead i'm just gonna get it shined up a bit.
We are gonna start out running her really rich, with the 12:1 Disc just to be on the safe side. This is becuase we are running the smaller 3.6" pulley, and Tom thinks my Crank pulley is larger then the GTP's Crank pulley, so in turn i'll see more boost, like an upwards of 8+psi.
Tom said he's going to take a ton of pictures with his digicam once the project is done. Were ALMOST there!

I'm waitin' for Tom to call me back as of now, but it should be done tommorow. He is doing the piping as we speak and everything should be pretty much in place.

I know the GTP's blower is "hidden" in their engine, so that could very well muffle much if it's whine. Mine will be sitting naked in the open, with a smaller boost pulley/larger crank pulley to boot.

What larger crank pulley are you going to use? Something in the Nissan parts lineup? Or maybe not even Nissan?

Just got off the phone with him and he said all the parts have turned out great. We have to run the belt the opposite way, I forget why, so this will make the alternator operate spun backwards. But we called some Alternator experts and they said it doesn't matter which way it spins as long as it spins and we're ok. We also had to get a different idler pulley.
Prob. won't be done till sunday afternoon. But better safe then sorry. I'm happy though, becuase all the parts have turned out really well and everything seems like it has fallen into place. It seems this roots setup is not as "impossible" as some thought, but rather very possible, just no one took the time to scope out a good setup.
Finally, I would like to say that positive displacement blowers pWn all, and we will soon find that out.
