running turbo off front bank only

ive turbocharged several four cylinders but my maxima is the first six ive owned. i want to know if it is possible to run a turbo off of only the front cylinder bank and not the rear. I believe the old Z31 turbo 6's ran the turbo off of only 3 cylinders, but im not 100% sure. A T3 turbine and a T4 compressor would probly be needed to make enough air at a low enough RPM or even a T25 turbine maybe. Any thoughts of discussion would definitely be welcomed before i venture into this new project. thank you

o and i have a 2k max se 5spd.

While it might be possible, I say no due to the tuning nightmare that would ensue...

And I don't think the old Z's were only run off one bank. They had a merged collector/downpipe, from what I recall seeing.

no...turbo was mounted on the driverside(front) manifold and it ran a cross over pipe from the pass side(rear) cylinders to the driverside manifold so all exhaust gasses reached the turbo

so peeps with 5th gens, do you run your rear banks under and up to the front of the tranny after joining with the front cyls? that would be like 3.5 ft or so of length before exh gases reach turbo though, lots of time for gases to cool.

you need to do a search...there are TONS of pics of the turbo setup for the 4th and 5th gens...its a common design amongst them. a reverse Y-pipe almost

I'll leave this one up to Turtle(Turbo95max). I believe he has/had a MaxRev setup like that. He also goes through motors like I do oil filters.

The Z31 had a crossover pipe that connected the two banks. It is probably a very bad idea to run a single turbo/single bank setup.
