EGT temp problem. NEED HELP.

I installed a digital EGT gauge from Dynotune.org today in one of the y pipes that come down. I wasnt the one doing the install. I only did the wiring.

So when I wired everything up the EGT reads Extremely low 100-150 degrees in celcius. WTF. I ook everyhting apart myslef and installed it back together and still it reads 100-150. @WOT it read ~200+ and soonest i let go it jumped to 100 degrees. Whats going on?

Is it the probe? The location?
Can u specify what ur reading is when ur driving around and @ WOT.
Thank you.

First off where did you install it?

2ndly, even if you installed it right before the CAT you would get a temp of that low. Seems like the probe is faulty to me.

I got it installed in a mufler shop where I get my custom exhaust done all the itme. I never had a problem with them. I think they f*cked it up because the Dynotune gauges are very fragile and they ruined it. They bended the brobe and when I took it out to look at it the tip was chipped off. So U think I should just get a new probe and go from there.

Also I used a clamp not a screw in bong. http://www.speedshop.org/store/ProdI..._bnc_large.jpg

Thank you guys.

It should run about 380C at idle when warm... Something wrong with installation or gauge?

I had the same issue with my gauge. Turns out the ECU inside the gauge was fried since my battery post adapter broke and shorted out the Gauge. I had to buy a complete new gauge.

Well I have a digital gauge. can it be the probe or the sending unit?

Well the probe is the sending unit in effect. I think the probe is jacked up.

You meantioned that the probe has some pieces broken off it. If thats the case, then the probe is probably giving a wrong reading. That is what I meant by jacked up. Broken/deffective now.

If you have the dynotune gauges, plug it into my car and see if it works better.

If the you can get to the connections, make sure that the thermocouple wires are not reversed. If there is a red wire, that will be negative, oddly enough. Also check that the t-couple extension wire is not damaged. For example, if the wire was crushed you might have a short somewhere between the real t-couple and the indicator. This would form a new thermocouple outside the exhaust pipe which could explain the low temps that rapidly decay.
