Engine Knock

This morning as I'm getting onto the highway onramp I got some engine knock. I got up to 60 mph (100km/hr), cruised for 10 seconds before sliding into traffic and when I stomped the gas pedal I heard the 'tick, tick, tick' sound. EGT was at 1200 degrees F at that moment. What should I be checking for? I'll have to search here later for running the codes.

Check your fuel pressure vs. boost pressure to make sure you are getting enough fuel. Do you know what your EGT was just prior to detonating?

What rpm did the detonation occur at?

Looks like I'll have to buy a fuel pressure gauge. I only glanced at the EGT when the knocking started, not prior.

I'll have to drive it easy for a while until I get a fuel pressure gauge.

your EGT reads lower when you have detonation. Stepen Max had detonation few months ago and his EGT reading dropped for 100F.

if you noticed that your EGT is higher than before (i.e. went above 1500F), get a fuel pressure gauge to eliminate fuel delivery problem.
