Nearly Free +10HP Gain!!

I was told that some of you may be interested in this story as this has allegedly not been done here yet.

A couple weeks ago I had my car dyno tuned and we found something really interesting. After about 3 hours are hard core "pushing it", we ran what we thought would be the final dyno and got 269HP (it is important to know that we started spraying down the tires with VHT from the second calibration run through the rest of the tests so that is a controlled variable). After that we let the engine cool down for exactly 22 minutes. Now that number of minutes is no magic number and is not a significant cool down period to provide more than 2-3HP gain. That's just what time it took before a light bulb went off in the shop owner's head. He explained to me something called "microslips" on the pulley belt. It happens to pretty much everyone and is such a tiny slip that it's not noticeable. Kinda like something you can't see with the human eye. Anyways, he sprayed down the belt with VHT Track Stick. We ran another dyno and BAM!!!

+10 HP gain..... 278.4HP total in the final run.

Ambient air temp was 65-68 degrees.

So there ya go. I saw it with my own eyes and have the dyno proof. A nearly free +10HP gain at the wheel for you S/C'd folk. I ordered a gallon of the sticky stuff yesterday and plan on carrying a small spray bottle in the jack area of the trunk for "race days".

Wow, almost 280 whp on a 3.33 pulley and auto. That's nice, good to see my old blower found a good home and puts down some power.

I'll have my new turbo (pics in other post) dyno tuned in the next few weeks after some exhaust work and a few other tweaks. I hope it puts down some good numbers, or I'm sure going to regret selling that blower

wooooah - did u say he has an automatic? i thought auto's couldn't handle power after a certain amount of boost ... errr rather lb/ft torque?

Hmmm..I think it's going to last longer than that but I guess I could be wrong. With that valve body upgrade and the cooler I installed, its been handling the power beautifully. It's been 3 months now on boost and I do drive pretty aggressively 60% of the time. I haven't noticed anything with the tranny at all. 65K miles. I plan on just keep replacing with rebuilt tranny's (+ VB) unless it gets so bad im replacing it every year. I'll have to consider a bullet proof A/T at that point.

Also running Redline High Temp D4.

Ya Shadow....man you rock. This blower is kickin ***. You check out my pics on cardomain yet?

I think it would go longer than that. I had the blower for a while, same pulley and and everything and with the VB, tranny cooler, and synthetic fluid, never a problem. My car is at 100K now, original tranny and it still shifts fine, no slippage. I think with the SC, since the torque is lower and more gradual, it's easier on trannies. Nitrous, turbo is going to generate a lot more low end torque and probably kill the tranny much faster.

I was there when they did this, that VHT works wonders! Not bad on a 3.33" pulley. Just don't get it on your paint! Not fun to take that stuff off. Either the guy at this shop rocks. Definately recommended. Called Ground Zero on NE Glisan I believe in Portland Oregon, pretty close to Portland Airport and I-84/I-205.

The numbers are caused by the huge bump up from the MEVI.

Those are nearly the exact same numbers I pulled when I was Auto....but I was on a 3.25"....I had a 1.5-2.5PSI boost leak at the compressor. (pushing 7.5PSI)

Soon to be rectified with my new blower when it's not raining in Seattle and I can put it in (Like next June at this rate)

This is why you need a MEVI BlackCat:

You forgot us with the custom 3.00"'s

Nice numbers, very comparable to what I ran on the dyno with the 3.00" pulley. Mine's a v1 though, and I suspect it needs a rebuild (soon) .. Although considering you have a MEVI, maybe I'm wrong.

Are you running full 2.5" exhaust with this setup?

I just want some numbers.... decent numbers.
That's all I'm asking for. Its not too much to ask, is it? LOL!

I see Courtesy Nissan has a December sale of $399.95

http://www.courtesyparts.com/secondtier_a32.html

"This kit consists of Genuine Nissan parts not available in the United States. This kit is designed for professional installation only, and includes only the Genuine Nissan parts required for installation. Additional parts will be required, that will not be provided by Courtesy Nissan. We cannot help you with installation of this kit, sorry. There is NO warranty for this kit. If you are not familiar with this kit, do not install it or purchase it until you find more information

Now while supplies last, regular price was $441.05, December special price of $399.95, while supplies last!"

Some day I'll get this but for now I'll tide myself over with an FMU. Saving my $ for my vacation next April.

Let me know when you do - since I've installed 4 or 5 of them now, I think I've got it down.

Just a FYI: When I do multiple back to back runs and then give it a cool down of 20 mins. I see a 10whp difference. This is w/o altering any of my maps.

I get the same results when we do Supras, RX7s, DSMs & 300XZ

20 mins of cool down time with a fan blowing and spraying down the IC does quite well.

That's a good question. Maybe Doubt if it's as sticky as VHT Track Stick is though. That stuff is incredible.

Don't use belt dressing....that's a good way to destroy a belt. That stuff will cause your belt to wear out incredibly faster.
