Sorry, I disagree with this. They are cast. They are fairly strong but not that strong. I have heard that they are already shotpeened but I cant verify this. I cant imagine why Nissan would want to put forged rods in when they cost so much more and when there isnt any boost.
If it were me, I would just get the pistons and rods (aftermarket). Its not cheap to tear a motor apart and doing it twice just isnt worth it.
I have looked carefully at our rods, and they are actually very thin ... not to say they are not strong, but they are very thin compared to Honduhs for example.
A number of ppl have tried VQ30DET internals ... if you are going to do internals, factory ones are not the ones I would go for.
