Max HP on 91 octane?

Anyone have an idea of the approximate amount of hp you can run on pump gas?

I know there are numerous conditions that affect this like weather, compression ratio, Intercooler, NOS, etc..

What would the max hp be, with totally optimal condtions to prevent detonation, with say 9:1 cr on our cars?

Realistically, That question is impossible to answer. You say 9:1 CR, but without getting really crazy with saturation limits of atomized fuel you could really get any number you wanted too. Assuming 9:1 CR, that means that the motor is already built, so are you running 25 psi boost pressure? Optimal conditions... well, can we assume that you intake temperatures are 32 degrees? If you go crazy enough with your motor, you can more than enough HP to destroy the VQ block, If thats what you are after...

Actually the answer Im after is whether or not 9:1 is too high for max hp on pump gas. Ill give you a better setup to work with:
PFI turbo kit, 60-1 turbo, 9:1cr, would 500hp be possible with 91? no NOS like Hal
Is 9:1 too high for 500whp? Im thinking that I should have gone with 8.5:1

im not 100% but i wouldnt try it. i would make a low compression head gasket like in this thread
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=272031
and get a J&S then you will good to go for def. why the pfi kit? dont you think its too much for the quality that you get? and you should be looking for forged rods

I agree with the above...and even so if you are already down to 9:1 there is VERY little to worry about already. so combine that with a method to retard timing per lb of boost or with J&S you'd be good to go. 9:1 is perfect...I've seen many 9:1 Hondas well into the 400s and many off the shelf pistons the common low CR options are usually 9:1 or 8.5:1...thats plenty suffiecient of a drop as long as you consider your fuel and timing issues as well.

For the money they offer more options than any other turbo kit Ive seen besides Hals, which isnt around anymore. I was not aware that PFI had poor quality, ive only heard good things about it. I will let you know what I think when it gets here.
