Anybody boosted on State Farm Insurance?

I am currently on State Famr insurance. I have a 1998 Infiniti I30 and I want to put a turbo charger on their. When I asked state farm about it they didnt even know what the hell a turbo charger was. So basically what I am asking is if they will still cover you or not when you boost your car. Some one please help me out.

Yup.

Just don't tell them. It's a mechanical part anyway and probably wouldn't be covered unless you got in a major accident anyway. And then you'll be glad you're just alive.

I've just accepted that with my SC, if I get in a wreck bad enough to damage it, then I expect to just write it off.

Because I have no idea how much my insurance would go up to if they found out my 190hp grocery getter was pushing 370+ at the crank. And I don't want to find out.

You would be able to buy a new one with the money you will save not paying the higher insurance.

There is insurance out there for modified cars, but not really worth it IMO. If you had an extreme motor worth more than your car then maybe it would be worth looking into. But just a turbo or supercharger can be easily replaced at a cost that would probably be less than the extra you would pay (as Prodeje79 pointed out).

Besides that is one of the best parts of owning a sleeper/fast grocery getter. You get insurance for half the price of the "supercars" and still kill them haha.

when I get my car quoted before I got boost thru State Farm, their procedure does state that the agents need to make sure the the vehicles they are covering are NOT modified.

you dont have to tell them, but if you crashed it because of your fault (i.e. street racing) and they found out your car is heavily modified. They have reasons to turn you down.

of course the agnet wont know WTH a turbo is....but you never know if the appraiser from the claim team, who has experience dealing with modified cars, would say something against you. The more claims they turned down (with a good reason of course i.e. violating state farm policy), the more bonus they make.
