New to Boost!

Hello everybody,

This is my first post on org.

I got my SC-V2 (bought it from Woo Chu) installed about a month ago at maximumtuning. Everything is running smoothly but I have two questions:

1) I get no boost in first gear, I have a 5-speed, is that normal?
(It revs really fast and stays at 0 psi)

2) I am running 3.33 pulley but the most boost i have seen is around 6. Do I need to redline to see 9 psi?

I just cleaned my throttle body, took two and a half hours, much better idle and no more stalling. (Piping has no leaks)

I would appreciate if you guys gave me some input!

1.check your belt tension. you should see a lot of boost @ first gear.

2.check your belt tension. I didnt see 9psi on my 3.33 either, I say 7 the most. It is different for everybody.

welcome and happy boosting.

If you say 7psi is the most for 3.33 pulley and that is what i get then it can't be the belt tension, right?
Then no psi in 1st has to be due to something else, no?
Thanks maxi-overdose

Like Maxi said check belt tension first. If 3.33 pulley aint cutting it, then drop down to a 3.25 or a 3.125. Take that needle as far as 6700RPMs and happy boosting. If you have autometer gauges those are usually a POS. It may not be accurate. I had one and took it off.

That's strange. I see 9 lbs boost on my Autometer with my 3.33" and mines a 1998.

I can redline it in first and still see no boost until I am in second. Then it jumps to like 5psi and starts building.

I checked the belt tension today, there is no problem there. But i do have autometer (sportcomp), I thought they were good, that might be the problem. Don't want a smaller pulley, wonna stay on the safe side.

Yo, BlackCat. What kind of setup are you running? 5-speed? BOV? FMU? Oilcooler? Etc.....

Thanks for input!

Take a look at my cardomain website: http://www.cardomain.com/id/blkcat

I'm an autotragic, stock Vortech FMU but with Blitz Dual Drive BOV, B&M Supercooler tranny cooler, Mobiltek VB Mod.

I've a 3.125" pulley and FMU upgrade in the box that's waiting for a long, warm weekend to come.
