New Fuel Filter does wonders
After 98,000 kms I decided to tackle replacing the fuel filter on the weekend.
Now I find that my slight hesitation when accelerating and knock has disappeared and the Max feels more energized! Up to then I thought that part of the problem was the auto tranny and the lack of a FMU. I wish I had done this at least a year ago!
When I shook out the remaming gas from the old filter I could see that the liquid wasn't clear. There was lots of soot mixed in so I could see that the filter was pretty clogged and this would have caused some fuel starvation.
Next thing I'll do is get a bottle of Chevron fuel injection cleaner to make things better.

Whoa! That's Something What I Gonna With My Max This Summer. My Max Has Almost 130k On The Engine, Bought It Two Years Ago, 3 Rd Owner, Dont Know About Previous Two Owners Whether They Has Done Change The Fuel Filter Or Not? Where U Get The Fuel Filter From? Also Is It Hard To Do? How Did It Take To Finish Up The Job?
Hey, newbie, you gota stop posting like that. Just edit the first post and add what you want to write. Don't make new ones every minute to raise your pot count. Either way you just repeated what you said in the first one. If you have ABS it should take maybe 30 minutes, without ABS maybe 10. Stop post whoring punk.
No need to be harsh Big D. I took a look around and didn't see much about filters.

Well I thought changing the fuel filter was part of the tune up process. I change my plugs, fuel filter, and PCV valve once a year. Definitely keeps your car on point. GLad to see that the fuel filter made such a big difference.
Now that I did it myself I will definitely do it annually!
Man, I just love how it feels now! I better do the PCV valve next.
Last night I was at a light and just blew away an old Supra.

Hm...I thought you just change them(fuel filter, pcv valve, and maybe even knock sensor)once and that's it. Could be why my car has been running kind of sluggish. I changed the fuel filter, pcv valve, and knock sensor out about 2-3 years ago. Time to change them again?
