Woot! Boost Leak Again

My infamous boost leak is back. This time with a brand new blower.

I hadn't noticed it until recently because I replaced my clutch and couldn't boost for 500 miles.

On the way to Spokane, WA this weekend (4 hour drive) I decided to make some 3rd and 4th Gear Runs out in the desert. (Yes, there is a desert in WA).

Boost goes to 8-9PSI at about 6000RPM then drops linearly (steady) from there to 4PSI at 7200RPM.

Maybe the belt is slipping, but isn't that usually more of a quick loss of boost instead of a steady drop? I'm also not hearing anything like that.

Anyway - heading down to the car with a spray bottle of soap and water right now. Hopefully it's not the blower leaking again.

The time when I definitely had belt slip, there was a fairly sudden drop of 1 or two psi when the coefficient of friction changed from static to kinetic, from there the boost pressure slowly dropped with increasing rpm, like what you are seeing. I'd try tightening the belt a skoshi before getting too worried about other possibilities.

Don't be sorry - it's fixed.
Stephen called it - the belt was at almost 180 degree deflection.

Finding an extra 30-40hp is like finding a $100 bill you forgot about in your pocket.

Saw 12 PSI at 7k....

Looks like it was from when things went awry at the track and I jumped a rib and we quickly loosened, re-aligned and tightened it again quickly so I could make the trial runs. Guess we didn't re-tighten enough.

I'm surprised it didn't jump a rib on the 8-hour road trip I just went on.

That's exactly why I keep a stock belt and a spare A32 MAF in my trunk.
