i got my catback/ test pipe in the mail. Apparently, they don't like welding, and they use these iron clamps in place of welds to connect the piping together - looks like it makes it easier to ship for them.

Should I just use the clamps or actually get them welded?... the clamps themselves are quite strong.

Other exhuast for domestic and stuff just use clamps. You can get them welded but you don't have too. Along as it is tight.

if you are installing it yourself then clamp it and drive it to make sure you have the right clearance... when you are satisfied, get it welded.

trust me the clamps WILL hold...we moved Redmax's 3" exhaust today from the shop and 3 of us tried to seperate the pipes where they are clamped(after removing the clamp) and those fockers won't budge!!! if you're worried about them loosening, don't be, after you run the exhaust a while it'll heat up and seal almost.

Told you so. I know a lot of domestics that just use clamps they just have to worry about their exhuasts rusting through.
