OIL (SC/TC guys)

Do you guys run synthetic oil? (Amisol or Mobil 1)

If you run synthetic how often do you guys change oil/filter?

Do the guidelines posted in the OIL, Fluid forum apply to our cars?

Mobil 1 synthetic @ 2500 miles..

turbos run at high temps and syn. oil holds up better
no point in risking an expensive turbo on a few dollars of oil

I also use synthetic...Mobile 1. I tried experimenting with the thicker stuff....15/50. What do you guys think. I am also experiencing the oil light flickering when I am at a stop. Think its too thick? or should I stay with the 10/40.

So even though Synthetic is suppose to provide longer change interval you guys still change @ 2500 - 3000 miles?

Yeah. Maybe it's overkill, but it makes me feel better about abusing the engine and SC when revving to 7200 rpm.

(vortechpower) No question, mobile one 10w-30 is the only way to go. I change mine depending on my driving conditions like longer for a highway trip. I have pushed the limit to 5500 miles. Usually I change I go 3000-3500 miles.

OOpps I just bought a case of 5w-30 instead of 10w-30. I guess I better return it!

So the general consensus here is to ignore the 8K + synthetic change interval due to the extra heat created by the SC, even though Mobil 1 costs $30.00 + per case?

P.S. Will it hurt to put the 5W-30 in the car with 100K miles on it?

I've been using 5w-30 Mobil 1 - change every 3k.

I wasn't aware others were using 10w-30. I overspin my blower to 56,000RPM with my 2.87" Pulley and 7200RPM limiter.

Never had a problem.

Should I possibly switch to 10w-30?
