Did you install your own turbo kit?

Im leaning towards getting a turbo in the future and well i've been doing alot of research. Im leaning towards the PFI kit. I really want to do the install myself. I have my uncle and cousin who are very mechanical. How long do you think it would take? I know if i have a shop do it i will have to fork out at min. a grand and If something goes wrong i wont know whats wrong because i didnt install it! And i tend to appreciate stuff more when i install it... Any input would be great, thanks!

I think the pfi kit install was easier than my v1 vortech kit install - just realize there's a lot of cutting involved... i'd say if u have all the tools/parts ready - weekend job

it can be done in a day or less, but give yourself a whole weekend to prepare for vac probs and all that other BS. not sure about PFI, but I know on Corey/Redmax's kit, R&R was pretty straightforward, remove old exhaust and other crap, bolt on turbo pipes...the only other thing will probably be having to get the pan tapped for return.

I had a shop do my 1st install. It's not that hard. If you get the PFI kit and the pipes are the correct length, noting to it.

It's just cutting and welding pipes that is difficult.

Like da-max said, give yourself 2 days, vaccum lines and small details sometimes take awhile.
