Oil Residue Under Blower
Ive had my, Brand New Rebuilt V1 blower on my car for less than 1K miles and I have an Oily residue forming under the blower on that black ledge by the idler pulley...i wipped up what was there with a towel and it's "clean oil" like i have in my engine now
there is no way that the oil is coming from the blower, So maybe from the drain line..my drain line is brand new with tight clamps on it...anybody have an idea because Ive seen a few other S/C maxima's and they kinda look like they have the same residue

Ill have to check that tomorrow..that had to be the only place its coming from..I hope I can get an extention socket in there to tighten that...I made sure it was perfect when I put it in though

What I usually do is position the blower close to the engine without screwing in the bolts. I then hook up the hose to the oil return nipple and tighten the hose clamp with a flexible cable screwdriver before I finally bolt the mounting plate to the side of the engine. One time I made the mistake of not completely pushing the nipple into the hose and the oil gushed out, leaving a real ugly mess.
what about your power steering lines? i know that i have a leak in there that im going to fix next week.
also, which formagasket did you use? 1A or 2B? one hardens, the other stays soft, i made the mistake of using 2b for the drain back plate.

You know - I have oil residue under my blower as well....I have about 7k on it.
It's always been there since hte day I installed the blower and I always assumed it was coming out of the oil plugs (the big allen-wrench bolts) under the blower. I usually reach down there and wipe it up whenever I wash my car....Hadn't thought much of it until now.
damn...now I'm kinda sweating it.

Well crack off the cold air setup and see if theres oil residue on the inside of the case ?? after speaking to alot of guys with blowers, alot of them have had to send them back due to leaking..

PERMATEX® FORM-A-GASKET® No. 1 Sealant
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fast drying, hard-setting sealant designed for sealing rigid materials and flanges, or patching holes and joints where permanent assembly is desired. Temperature range -65°F to 400°F; resists common shop fluids and fuels.
Suggested Applications:
Freeze plugs, threaded connections, manifold gaskets
PERMATEX® FORM-A-GASKET® No. 2 Sealant
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Slow drying, non-hardening sealant designed for sealing cut gaskets and stamped parts. Allows for easy disassembly if required. Temperature range -65°F to 400°F; resists common shop fluids and fuels. Use where sealing is more important than adhesion.
Suggested Applications:
Valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket
Why Couldnt you use a gasket maker like....This is designed for turbo charged/supercharged cars but its a gasket maker ???
What one do I use ???
matty...the stillen instructions call for Permatex form-a-gasket #2.
for some reason i 'may' have used RTV gray. i cant remember for sure, but that is in my mind. i used either the RTV grey or the permatex #2.
