some im wondering if its possible to add a S/c with small boost with out me going thru the whole hassle of changing injectors, pumps and all the other things?
Assuming the car is bone stock at 190 hp/205 ft.lbs of torque, anyone got an idea of how much it will be after the install of the base SC kit with no other changes at all. I've seen a few numbers but they all seem to have other modifications with them.
Straight from the stillen website
"Motor Trend Magazine tested one of our supercharged SMX Maximas (December 1998) and got the following results: 0-60 mph in 5.9 seconds (stock was 7.4). Their 1/4 mile time was 14.4 seconds at 98.8 mph vs. stock at 15.5, 90 mph. Their conclusion: "...a roomy...four-door that humbles prestigious sport sedans costing double, trip or quadruple (as much)." The experience of a Maxima equipped with our STILLEN Supercharger is awesome. The car starts and idles normally with just a hint of whine from the supercharger being the only initial clue of what is to come. As the gas pedal is applied, the whine vanishes and car pulls normally to about 3500 rpm. As this is passed, it just flat takes off and pulls hard to red line. Horsepower is increased from the stock 190 to approximately 275 at the flywheel. The 2000 Maxima enjoyed a significantly greater increase. Torque (measured at the wheels) jumps from the stock 176 to 220 ft/lbs."

I don't think anyone here has ever posted about their sc'ed engine breaking down from the base sc kit. I've had mine on for 4 years now with no engine problems and my Max is a daily driver.

Be sure to either use the auxiliary in-line fuel pump that comes with the Stillen kit, or replace your in-tank pump with a Walbro 255 lph fuel pump. Other than that, you don't need to do anything other than install the kit.Originally Posted by StAtiXz6

no, like 6psi is stock. He could probaly run 8psi and still really not have to worry about changing anything. This is how everyone starts, thinking the base kit will do...then you get a smaller pulley then more and more stuff...

Just gt the damn kit and get on with it. I have 96k boosted miles on my max. Running a 3.125/cai/exhuast.... with stock injectors
Hey BlackCat, how many miles did you get your bearings replaced and was that on a v1? Did you have anything else done? I think im do

I've got the V2. I don't remember the mileage when this happened but it had nothing to do with it. My fault entirely. I simply overtightened the belt because the wet winter weather caused the belt to squeal every time I went on the throttle and that caused the bearings to wear out faster than it should have.Originally Posted by vortechpower

I've already cut off the #6 post to get ready for the 3.125" but I need to get my hands on a pulley puller. My pulley is frozen on the spindle and I couldn't get it off.

Go craftsman. Real nice one for $21 or so. Damn, how tight is tight. Mine sounds like it has more of a rattle to it. How can you tell ? How much did you say they charged you ? I could always turn my belt 90 degrees and move it a quarter inch. Maybe it is just time, time to be refreshed.
Yes the pulley can get stuck on there. Before I knew any better I tried prying it off with a screw driver. Then I went to sears and got a pulley puller! It makes a big difference

Unfortunately Sears Canada doesn't stock automotive Craftsman stuff other than their ratchet sets and pieces. One place wanted $50 for a puller. Originally Posted by vortechpower

The weather is getting pretty cold now and I'm not about to spend 4 hrs in an unheated garage. I took my Dremel in for servicing last night. I think I burnt it out after cutting off that post.Quote:
