ct26 on a max

I got a 3rd gen vg. I set it up to run a 300zx t3 turbo but after getting it on it did not make boost and blew instantly. So I went back to the junk yard in search for another turbo, and I could have got another 300 turbo but decided to go with the supra ct26. I was wondering what size trim is on it. It does not say anywhere on it.I heard it would be a good one and it came from a 3.0 motor. I was wondering at what rpm it would start making boost and when it would maybe hit full boost. At 7psi intercooled what kind of horse power it would make.I should have it all changed over, and going by the weekend The turbo seems to be in good shape it has very little shaft play and spins like hell.

i dont think its any bigger than a stock Z31 T3

i read on a supra forum that a NA supra made 230whp @7psi when he converted to turbo so i would guess somewhere around there

I found a page that estimates the CT26 from the supra at 40 trim. (you could get the CT26 in different configurations on more than one car). That's the most informative page I could find, the page also claims that Toyota never released the compressor map for the CT26. Here's the page:

its actually quite a bit bigger than the z31 t3. you can also get these things modified to push some nice amounts of air.

Well if i was reading correctly the mr2 ct26 has about a 40 trim and the 30 litter supra has aslightly bigger wheel. But the real way to find out is for me to slap everything back together and check it out. Got the new flages finished today and will get it on in the morning and will have to take the drip back to the exhast shop to get a new down pipe. Jeff I should have new pics by monday waiting for my intercooler to get in and get it on.

how much diffrance would a 2.25 down pipe make going into a 2.5 exhaust than a 3 inch or 2.5 inch down pipe. I told him 2.5 but check it and its 2.25

the ct26 is a very nice turbo to use in my opinion. i was actually considering it myself until i came to the realization that a tt setup was capable. make sure you use the turbo from the supra and not the mr2 because the mr2 one is a twin entry and isnt as effecient as the single entry supra one. the nice things about these turbos is that many many people end up swapping the stock compressor wheels for larger ones resulting in even more power potential. ive seen well into the 400whp range being flowed from this turbo on 3 liter supras so you should be able to expect around the same from our maximas.

New numbers in for the 1/2na-t

Stock Boost (6.8psi) With a bottleneck custom exhaust, intake, chrome hardpipes and bov, tuned for about 13:1 i pulled 233 rwhp and 267 rwtq!!! STOCK BOOST!!!!

I beleive with similar mods a turbo motor won't pull anywhere near those numbers.

the car is still running fine, nothing is busted due to the turbo installation, just normal supra stuff. Reliability, has not been an issue yet ( cross my fingers) i still get ~22mpg and i boost quite often. Here is a pic of my dyno sheet at Chi2k4.

edit: The ct-26 is capable of spooling at 2.1k rpms in 5th gear and hits full boost at 2.4k... heh... awesome

jong has attached this image:

I used to have an MK3 supra turbo.....that turbo should be okay. Turbo has been efficient for supras around 400 hp the last time i checked.

The CT26 is a larger turbo than the Z31 T3, but they have similar characteristics, you should see spoolup at about the same time as with the T3, maybe a tad bit later.

With 9:1 compression, you should spool it pretty quick though, what engine do you have? VG30E?

About rotating the assembly, AFAIK, you need to use a rubber mallet to gently hammer the housing off.
