Too Boost or Not to Boost??
Too Boost or Not to Boost??
Ok, This question has probably been done to death, and being
a car guy myself I've seen answers all across the board, but more opinions never hurt.
So, I have a 5th Gen SE Manual. Approx 50K Miles.
I use the car for Long commutes occasionally and reliability is an entire must.
The issues I see are as Follows :
1. Cost. Doing this would require ( as I understand it )
: S/C Kit. ( Approx 3500 USD )
: Clutch and Flywheel ( Approx 1000 USD )
: Exhaust ( Approx 1500 USD, Headers and Catback System )
: LSD ( Approx 700 USD )
I already have Suspension, I wouldn't change the Wheels because I just got brand new Rubber.
Basically Its probably going to be 7K USD to do all this and do it Right.
Which to me, seems like a helluva lot.
What I want to know is, is doing what most have you done worth the cost? do you have regrets or feel you have ruined your car?
All inputs are Appreciated.
Thanks, Markus.

I have been boosted for 97k miles, not one regret in fact I don't know what I would do if I were not. Every time I take my car to redline it is like the first time, well almost. I don't wet my pants and have a perma grinn.
Once you go boosted you will understand and as long as you take care of your stuff and do things the right way reliability is not an issue. My max is my only car and I drive it everday. I have gone on 4 800 mile road trips just this summer. That is 12 hours straight. My bearings are going bad but so what, I got my money worth and Im willing to pay for the rebuild to go for another round! I have delt with little things like my belt hopping off the pulley and my idler pulley melting but once you learn about your set up you can avoid these minor issues by inspecting things on a regular basis, literally. Looking under the hood every time I come home is a regular and has saved me plenty in the passed. If you take the extra precautions you have nothing to worry about. My younger brother has an 01 and he put a used v2 kit that he purchased from honda eater on his max at 49k. He just installed his fidanza and act stage 1. It is worth all of it. 1 warning is once you start this can develope into a terrible addiction. If you want it than you need it...
