help diagnosing noise.
hello all....
i need some help and thoughts on diagnosing a noise i have coming from my car. in the blower area i am getting a strange humming/wirring noise. it sounds like it could be a bearing. but i am not sure which one.
i just pulled the blower and tightened up all the bolts (one for the 3.125 pulley shaft & idler pulley) still making the noise if not worse.
my thoughts are the main bearing inside the blower or the idler pulley bearing. say its the main blower shaft bearing will a rebuild solve this? obvioulsy i can change the idler pulley to see if its that one making the noise.
maybe i am overlooking something, i just wanted some input.
also i am getting a mechanical sounding rattling noise above 6.5k rpms that i think may be related. the humming teamed with the V1 whine is making for some strange looks on the road haha.
i have a recently put a new motor in the car. it was making the same noise with the old and new motor...so it has to do with something in the blower area.
i switched to a 2.87 pulley a while back. in order to get the 3.125 off i had to put the torch on the bolt to break it loose. i am wondering if something could be affected by the heat? when i put the new motor in, i put the 3.125 back on just to get it back to the setup that wasnt giving me problems. but these noises are still there even with the 3.125 back on.
any help is appreciated...thanks.

I don't like the sound of that. My blower started making some weird sound other than the usual. To the normal ear it couldn't really be noticed. The sound started out real faint. Try reving motor to around 4k while listening to the blower as it accelerates and decelerates. I was able to hear rattling/knocking like noise. About a 1k miles later the sound became obviously noticable to me. The noise just kept getting worse. I continued driving with blower and began thinking I was losing power cause car didn't seem to pull as hard. Anyway, I sent my blower to vortech, they said I need new iimpeller(I sucked up somthing about 45k ago), bearings and seals. $480 is the tab. My blower had 97k miles most of which was with the stock pulley up to 60k or so....
